Greg Joseph Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 25, 2025.
Greg Alan Joseph of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on October 9, 2024, in Clovis, New Mexico. Greg, the youngest of four boys, was born on October 12, 1957, to Barbara A. (née Starnes) and the late George M. Joseph. He is survived by his loving mother, Barbara; his son, Jeremy Adam; his brother, Guy (Ann); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, George, and his brothers, Gary and Jerry.

Greg graduated from Oak Hills High School in 1975 before attending the University of Cincinnati, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1979. His strong business acumen and leadership skills led him to various positions early in his career. His first job was at Hazelton Systems Corporation, where his mother worked as well. He later held roles at Kenner Products and the La Scalea Law Office before making a pivotal decision to enlist in the United States Air Force in 1984.

During his 24-year military career, Greg exemplified the Air Force's Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do. He began as an Airman First Class in Inventory Management before advancing through the ranks to Technical Sergeant. One of the highlights of his career was serving as a technician in the Mission Capable Section, where he played a crucial role in securing and expediting essential aircraft parts for F-16 fighter jets, ensuring their operational readiness.

While assigned to U.S. Special Operations Command during Operation Desert Storm, Greg performed a range of critical duties that earned him four Joint Service Achievement Medals. Later, he was deployed to Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates with the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa. For his exceptional performance during this deployment, he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal (second Oak Leaf Cluster).

Greg's expertise led to his selection for a key role with the 428th Fighter Squadron, where he provided logistical support for 12 Republic of Singapore Air Force F-16 aircraft valued at over $280 million. He managed an extensive inventory of more than 6,100 aircraft parts while also serving as the primary trainer for Republic of Singapore Air Force logistics personnel. These accomplishments were just a few among many that demonstrated Greg's unwavering dedication to mission success.

While stationed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, Greg met Kymberly Hulbert. They married in 1987 and welcomed their son, Jeremy Adam, a year later. Though their marriage ended, their friendship endured as they remained devoted co-parents to Jeremy. Greg took immense pride in being an involved father and cherished every moment spent with his son.

After retiring from active duty in 2008, Greg continued supporting the Air Force mission as a contractor with SAIC and later Lockheed Martin. He played an essential role in sustaining the MQ-9 Reaper drone program used for intelligence gathering and precision strikes. His expertise made him an indispensable asset during deployments to locations such as Djibouti, Ethiopia, Germany, Kenya, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia-often working under challenging conditions for extended periods. Recognized for his contributions, Greg received numerous accolades and certificates of recognition accompanied by U.S. flags flown aboard MQ-9 drones over undisclosed locations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and Department of Defense Operations Horn of Africa. He remained dedicated to Lockheed Martin for 12 years until his passing.

Greg was also known for his generosity and mentorship among colleagues. He took great pride in guiding others professionally while fostering strong bonds with those around him. Whether mentoring junior personnel or cooking meals for coworkers on swing and midnight shifts-a tradition they continue in his honor-Greg's impact was deeply felt by those who knew him.

Beyond his professional achievements, Greg had a lifelong love for sports-particularly baseball and golf. As a young man, he could be found playing baseball with friends for hours on end. His love for the game remained throughout his military career where he represented several of his squadrons as a skilled shortstop. Later in life, he developed a passion for golf and regularly competed in tournaments with close friends. He relished both the competition and camaraderie that came with the game.

Above all else, Greg loved his family dearly. He shared an especially close bond with his mother and took immense pride in Jeremy's accomplishments. As a father, he was actively involved in every aspect of Jeremy's upbringing. From cooking meals and helping with homework to sharing in the joys of swimming, go-karting, and attending sporting events, Greg embraced fatherhood wholeheartedly.

Jeremy holds fond memories of his dad from childhood, especially the times Greg coached his baseball teams and traveled with him from city to city for state tournaments. And although separated by distance later in life, Greg's love and devotion to Jeremy never wavered.

Greg was genuine-what you saw was what you got-and he never hesitated to lend a helping hand when needed. His presence left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him, and he will be missed beyond measure.

It´s hard to find the words to say goodbye. Greg was more than just a friend-he was a mentor and guiding light in the lives of everyone who knew him. His kindness, distinctive laugh, and willingness to help others will never be forgotten. Greg was a linchpin in the Logistics community, a void that could never be filled.
Thank you, Greg, for the memories, the late-night talks, the quiet support, the joy you brought into my life, and the incredible steaks and French toast you made the team.! I wish we had more time. You will be deeply missed.
Rest peacefully walking the Golf Greens in the sky-you are a true friend beyond words and missed beyond measure.

I worked with Greg since 2016 and the last few years I spoke with Greg nearly every day. Greg was truly a dedicated man that cared about his family, job and country. Greg had a phenomenal way of making things happen to ensure our mission did not ever fail. While we talked daily about any supply issues within our program, we also talked about life and those talks will be sorely missed. Rest easy brother.

Greg was a major player and key to much of our success. I spoke with Greg almost every day concerning support for our teams downrange. He was so entrenched and dedicated to making us successful. You always knew, no matter how difficult a situation was going to get, you could count on Greg to ensure we had what we needed, when we needed it. It was an honor to serve with you, sir.
To Greg's family, may all these loving memories you receive here help to bring you peace, comfort, and strength.

I meet Greg in 2022. My first impression was he took his job very seriously. We didn´t talk much because we were on different shifts when I first started but then I was told he like me because I worked. Then 4 months later we were on the same shift. We got along very well l, worked closely together on task and he started to train me in supply which he loved doing. He was a mastermind at supply. As we worked together we got closer he would tell me stories of his time in the military and about his family and how much he loved his son and mother. He would brag about his son and how proud he was of him all the time. I could tell from all the stories of him throwing baseball with his son and their time in Germany that the only thing he loves more than supply was his family. He would ask me everyday did I talk to my mom because he talked to his everyday. All of this breaks my heart knowing that his mother was looking forward to his calls everyday. He talked about his family so much I feel like I know them personally. Greg loved to cook for everyone on shift. He loved steaks, his dip, ice cream, and drinking his 2 liter Pepsi out the bottle. I will always remember the times we had. I could write for days about how much he impacted my life and taught me not only about supply but life also. I never got to tell you how much you meant to me because he didn´t like mushy stuff but love you my friend glad we got to spend all those times together talking.
