Greg Nunley, 46, of Lexington, Ala., passed away Friday, July 21, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital after an extended illness.

He was a native of Giles County, Tenn. He was a self-employed mechanic and a member of North Carolina Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be held at Loretto Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2006. Don Williams will be officiating. Burial will follow in Pettus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 on Saturday, July 22, 2006, at Loretto Memorial Chapel.

Survivors are his loving and dedicated wife, Karen Denise Burgess Nunley, Lexington; one son, James Christopher Nunley, Huntsville; one daughter, Amanda Denise "Mandy" Stell and husband, Trevor, Lexington; one granddaughter, Ava Grace Stell, Lexington; father and mother, James "Hop" and Jean Nunley, Killen; three sisters, Kim Stevenson, Killen, Regina Clemmons and husband, Greg, Killen, and Teresa Michael and husband, Rex, Killen; one brother, Jeff Nunley and wife, Tracey, Killen; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Oren and Estelle French and Frank and Hugh Nunley.

Pallbearers will be Mark Garnor, Buck Bailey, Lee Wright, Jacob Mitchell, Brad Sledge and Terry Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Wright, Lawrence Flanagan and Tony Davis.

On July 20, Greg lost his four-year battle to colon cancer. During this time, he met and became intimate with his savior Jesus Christ. During this change in his body, mind and soul, he began to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life with his family and friends so dear to him. His advice was for others to do the same.
