Berg, Gregory Joseph Age 72, of Whitewater, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital, in Fort Atkinson, WI. Greg was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 14, 1935, the son of Joseph W. and Teresa (Nuedling) Berg. He received a Degree in Journalism from Marquette University. On June 16, 1956, Greg married Rose Marie Cherne in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Greg had worked as a news writer for 45 years, retiring in 1990. Greg resided in Wheaton, Illinois for 27 years with his family and in 1998 moved to Whitewater, Wisconsin. Greg was a member of the Whitewater Lions Club. He enjoyed baseball and served as a manager and coach for over 14 years for Glen Ellyn Illinois Little League Teams. He was not only an avid Packer Fan, but was part owner. Playing Sheepshead was another of his passions. Greg's family members include: wife, Rose Marie Berg, Whitewater, WI; daughter, Ellen (Rod) Maravilla, Hobart, IN; son, James (Kathleen Fallon) Berg, Winfield, IL; son, Daniel (Mary) Berg, Glen Ellyn, IL; and son, John (Kelly) Berg, Glen Ellyn, IL. Poppa will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Erin (Jon) Chariton, Jill (Patrick) Allen, Kimberly Maravilla, Kyle and Zachary Berg, Greg and Elizabeth Berg, and Joseph and Thomas Berg; and great-grandchildren, Lucas and Emberly Rose Chariton; brothers, William (Sheila) Berg, and Thomas (Jackie) Berg; sisters, Mary (Jim) Johnson, Josetta Berg, Barbara (Ken) Prengel, and Bernadette (Gary) Raasch. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Greg was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Whitewater, Wisconsin with Father Rafael Rodriguez celebrating. Friends may call from 10:00AM until 1:00PM on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at Nitardy Funeral Home, Whitewater, Wisconsin. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider, in lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whitewater Lions Club, The American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
