Gregory Brown Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 23, 2024.
Gregory "Greg" Brown, age 51, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, at his home in Glendale, Arizona, surrounded by his loved ones. His unwavering faith and love for God, family, and friends sustained him through his courageous battle with Stage 4 prostate cancer, which he faced with remarkable strength and resilience since his diagnosis in August 2022.

Born on February 25, 1973, in Milton, Florida, Greg graduated from Milton High School in 1992. Shortly after, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. During his distinguished 12-year military career, Greg served as a Chemical Operations Specialist and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. His service exemplified dedication and honor until his departure from active duty in January 2003.

Following his military service, Greg pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Purdue Global University. This achievement marked the beginning of a professional journey that combined his passion for safety and education. For seven years, Greg worked as an instructor in Arkansas, training first responders across the nation to detect chemical and biological agents using specialized equipment. Later, he relocated to Arizona and excelled as a Global Safety Manager for CBRE, where he remained until his retirement in January 2024.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Greg's life was enriched by his many passions and hobbies. He found joy in woodworking, barbecuing for loved ones, cheering on Florida State University football, and most importantly, spending cherished time with his family. His love for life was evident in every endeavor he pursued.

Greg's devotion to his family was unparalleled. He was a loving husband to Jessica Brown, with whom he shared nearly 25 years of marriage and over 27 years of partnership. Together they built a life filled with love and memories that transcended time. Greg was also a devoted father to Marquis Brown, Joscelyn Brown, and Jaden Brown. He embraced the role of "PawPaw" with pride when his son Marquis blessed him with a grandson, Noah Brown.

Greg is survived by his beloved wife Jessica; his children Marquis, Joscelyn, and Jaden; grandson Noah; sister Tarrian Rushing-Pate; niece Octavia Townsend; and nephews Darrell Rushing, James Rushing, and Dominique Rushing. He is also fondly remembered by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whose lives he touched deeply.

He was predeceased by his father Willie Agee; mother Brenda Rushing; grandmother Josie May Rushing; and grandfather OC Rushing.

Greg's life was defined by service-to his country, to his community, and to those he loved most. His memory will forever be treasured by all who knew him. May his legacy of faith, love, and perseverance continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in his journey.

Death ends a life, not a relationship.
All the love you created is still there. All the memories are still there. You live on- in the hearts of everyone you have touched and nurtured while you were here.

I met Greg when my husband and I moved to Arizona in 2022 and I started working for CBRE. Greg was one of the first people I met and welcomed me with his infectious smile and warm heart. I loved working with Greg. He was always looking out for the team. My husband and I moved back to MN almost a year ago and when I learned of Greg's passing my heart was broken. The good ones seem to leave us way too soon. Thank you Greg for being you! You were truly one of a kind and I will never forget you. RIP and thank you for your service to our country.

I first met Greg at Fort Riley, Kansas in 2001. We both arrived at the same unit around the same time to learn we were deploying to Kuwait for a training exercise for 4 months. Greg was the first person to teach me how to play spades and we became really good spade partners during the 4 months. Greg and I became really good friends. In fact, for me he was my best friend. Someone I could call at any time and talk about anything.

When I met his better half, his wife Jess and his son Marquis I understood how important family was to Greg. Greg left the service in 2003 and moved to Little Rock Arkansas. Our families stayed in touch and my family would go visit Greg and Jess in Arkansas. I remembered how proud he was to learn he was having twin daughters. I was shocked when I received recruiting orders in 2008 and would be a recruiter in Little Rock Arkansas. It was a great time to be able to see Greg and the family again. Joscelyn and Jaden kept Greg busy and to see Greg and Jess love for them was something special to witness. I remember when Greg and Jess let the girls do a sleep over with our daughter Briana. They dropped the girls off around 6pm and I think they were back by 8 or 9 pm to pick them up lol.

One of my favorite memories was our family trip together to Disney. It was a great trip.

I am going to miss my friend. He was a loving husband, father, and friend. He lived his life or his family. He was able to experience life as a Grandpa when his grandson Noah was born. He was a very proud dad and Grandpa.

To Marquis, Joscelyn, and Jaden there was not a conversation your dad and I had where you could tell just how proud he was for each one of you. There are no words for me to describe how much your dad loved you and how proud he was of you. He thought the world of you.

Jess, you are a strong woman who Greg loved very much. In our conversations Greg would always talk about how amazing you were. It amazed him how you were able to manage the day to day with the family and the busy schedules. He appreciated you and loved you more than you could know.

You will be missed more than you know my friend. I will miss our phone calls. Rest easy.

We met Greg & Jessica through our son Logan and his friendship with their daughters at school. Greg has always been so kind and caring for his family and friends alike. My son Logan always loved talking to him, because he always cared about what he had to say ever since he was a little kid. A great friend who will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Greg was a really great guy and I loved just hanging out and talking with him when we were instructors in Arkansas at DPETAP. I was lucky enough to spend some time on the road with him as well and he was just fun to be around. My sincere condolences to his family.

Greg was a loving and caring father. Even when you knew he was in pain, his love for the girls carried him to the track meet or game.
