Douglas Gillies

Greg Gillies was my kind and loyal brother. He followed his principles and offered support whenever we needed it. Our basement was his workshop; there was nothing he couldn't fix. If it was a big project, he would take his tools to the garage of his friend up the hill. Greg was about the smartest person I ever met, and his keen mind would sort through complex problems patiently and analytically. The logic of his mind was balanced by the warmth of his heart.

How do I share about a unique brother like Greg....
Separated by several years, my vivid memories are of him as a adult. We talked for hours at night on the phone as he shared his plans for a very special bike he had built and the plans for another. He didn´t look on a task as too hard but created diagrams to work his plans into existence. He always had time for me and became a sounding board that propelled me on through some tough times.
Beyond being my eldest brother and my good friend, Greg was an inventive genius, resourceful, independent, motivated, appreciative, persistent, focused, polite and always cheerful. He is greatly missed. I´ m sure he is enjoying some Dixieland Jazz and is quite content.

Pat, Laurel and Doug,
I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Greg. I have some fond memories of him while hanging out at your home on Aberdeen Road. I knew that he lived in Cambridge but did not realize that he had not been well. I am going to make it to is service on Friday but I do not live in Cambridge, I moved a year ago to Tillsonburg (which is a small town near London) so depending on the weather, I will try. If I am n ot there please know that I am thinking of all of you.
P.S. at, I would love to get together with you before you leave but if not my phone number is
(519) 409-1677 and my email is [email protected]
