Gregory Hampton Obituary

Gregory was born in Harnett County and grew up in Benson, NC. He attended Johnston County schools and worked in construction, warehouse, and manufacturing industries until his health declined. On December 31, 2010, he was joined in Holy matrimony with Lena Davis. Gregory served in the church as a drummer for over 16 years; this was his gift, and also his passion. He was well known to his family and friends as "Boo Boo", "Mr. Parker", "Greggie", Greggie Lee", "Honey", "Big Baby", and "Greg". Gregory was a genuine individual who touched so many Hearts with his humorous personality. It's was hard not to love "something" about him. He loved to tease, laugh and joke around when given the opportunity; which was ALL of the time. He was best known for being very blunt and outspoken. He simply said what he wanted to say, when he wanted to say it, and how he wanted to say it; (just like his daddy). One of his most familiar sayings was, "WELL... IT'S THE TRUTH"! Throughout his battle with kidney failure and diabetes, he became a strong man of great faith, who believed in the power of fervent prayer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elderess Annie Sellers-Hampton, two brothers: Demetrius and Ashanta Hampton, grandparents; Thomas and Doris Campbell, and one father-in-law; Wilbert Davis. Gregory leaves to cherish his memories to his loving wife, Lena Davis-Hampton of the home, two step-children; Shakeesha Davis and Javar Smith, Winston Salem, NC; father and step mother, David, and Betty Hampton, Dudley, NC; mother-n-law, Roberta Davis, Winston Salem, NC; three sisters, Sheila Hampton, Smithfield, NC, Serena McClarin (Stan), Smithfield, NC, Nadja Hampton, Smithfield, NC; three brothers, David Hampton Jr. (Teresa), Salinas, CA, Nathaniel Hampton, Smithfield, NC, Hector Hampton, Smithfield, NC; a sister-in-law, Mary Davis, Winston Salem, NC; two brother-n-laws, Johnny and Robert Davis, Winston Salem, NC; four aunts, Sarah Holder (Ronald), Salinas, CA, Dorothy Sanders, Benson, NC, Mary Spears, Erwin, NC, Terrie Jones (Neal), Fayetteville, NC; one uncle, Troyal Sellers (Vanessa) Fayetteville, NC; five grandchildren, one godchild, a special friend Mrs. Brenda Stephens, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation: Wednesday, January 27 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sanders Funeral Home Chapel 806 E Market St Smithfield, NC 27577 (919) 934-8416
