Brooke, Kendall, & Olivia...I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss. Your dad was an amazing man & my family was always asking me how he was doing. I met all of you & your dad through soccer and he never missed a game! He was such an inspiration to everyone around him. It always amazed me that I never saw a frown on his face. Brookie, please let me know if you ever need ANYTHING! I know we are not that close anymore, but I really do love you. My family's thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. I know that your daddy will always be watching over you, <3

I knew Greg from Buena High and our paths crossed many times over the years. His daughter, Alex and my daughter were friends and I remember him "chauffering" the girls in the limo! We had the opportunity to socialize with mutual friends and as a board member for Caregivers I remember his participation in our annual golf tournaments. His laughter and generosity will always be remembered. To his family...you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sending love to all this day. Yesterday was beautiful. The eulogy was amazing. The doves were spiritually powerful. The composure and love shown by all in Gregg's family/friends were without equal. Now, please take some time to sit down and heal yourselves, minute by minute, day by day. I love you to Heaven and back.

Greg: We will miss seeing your smiling face and friendly wave in the neighborhood. Because of you, our street was a happy, fun place to live. Your love for your family, friends and neighbors was present in eveything that you did and it rubbed off on others. We will always remember you chasing the kids down the street, doing yard work with a baby on your back, driving by in that old white truck, helping out whenever anyone needed a hand, your Halloween decorations, and you visiting with your neighbors. And the fireworks! OH, THE FIREWORKS!!! You have touched the lives of so many and will be remembered by all. - P.S.: Thanks for the nuts and bolts. - Your Neighbors, Eric & Teri Maass

I met Greg through his (brother from another mother) Tim Goodwin and what a team these 2 characters made on and off the golf course they always made me laugh. I enjoyed a few rounds of golf as well as a frosty or two with Greg and our conversations would be about our families and I could see what his family meant to him (everything). Save a round of golf for me buddy I heard the tee-shots fly forever!

Greg and I shared the Ventura life. Lived in the same neighborhood, went to the same schools. We were the best JV wrestlers Buena ever had (Never could quite beat that Varsity guy). We lived together in four separate houses, Greg was the perfect roommate, he payed rent, stored his stuff there and was never home, (Always at Cathy's house). We shared our love for the Dodgers-Golfing-Waterskiing at Naci-and pounding a few beers now and then. Two sayings come to mind when thinking of Greg. One is he had a "Heart of Gold" he would literally give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. Another is that "Excess is not enough". Boy did we share in some excesses. We are all going to miss him a lot. Our prayers go out to his family in this time when you need comfort.

Uncle Greg-
[HOMIEEE] What can I say but you were defiantly THE MAN. An uncle who gave everything and expected nothing. Who threw parties, drank beer, played golf and LOVED your family with EVERYTHING that you had. What I learned from you is the kindness of your big heart and the love that you gave your family. You will be missed, and Ventura will not be the same without you.

Love- Danny, Nicole, Ella and Ellis Kountz

My Uncle Greg...what a Great person he was! I have so many wonderful memories of him. I'll never forget his smile, his laugh, his awesome BBQ's, and his giving nature. He was a FUN person to be around! I will miss him greatly. My brother, Danny Kountz said, "Ventura won't be the same without Uncle Greg!" He's right! It won't be. Rest in peace Dear Uncle. My memories of you will live in my heart forever...

It’s very sad to lose one of my good ol high school buddies. He did live life to the fullest and I was glad to be a part of it. We were roommates for years and life was never boring with “Koon Dog” around. From Dodger and Kings games, limo rides, and Christmas tree shopping, we had a blast. I will miss you. My prayers are with Greg and all his family.

I'm saddened to hear of Greg's passing. I went to high school with Greg but didn't really get to know him very well until I went to work for Oxnard Chem. It was a swimming pool business that his future father-in-law Jim Schleimer owned. That said, what a great time!!!. I'm so glad I was able to hang with The Mayor's son. He kept us out of trouble.
