Gregory Marsdale Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 18, 2025.
On April 8th Gregory Thomas Marsdale passed away unexpectedly. A kind and gentle soul. Greg loved cats, jazz, riding his recumbent bicycle, kayaking while looking for birds and ducks and especially cross-country skiing. In 1970 Greg received the DAR Good Citizenship Award, an honor he cherished dearly. He met the love of his life "Ana Dobbs" in 1981. They enjoyed traveling, including many trips bicycling around the US and Europe, as well as many cruises. Greg loved being at sea. He had struggled with life since losing Ana in 2020.

He had many careers and talents. He was an IT professional, a massage therapist (he had his own business called this "This Wonderful Place"). He also worked at several restaurants. He was a great baker, especially pies and bread and made lots of beautiful pottery. He and Ana fostered many moms with kittens and other cats for the CT Humane Society over the years.

Predeceased by his parents George F. and Mary R. (Flynn) Marsdale, as well as his oldest sister Linda M. Marsdale. He survived by his brother Alan (Karen) Marsdale of Oley PA, his sisters Peggy (Dan) Lareau and Diane (Mark) Lucas both of East Hartford, as well as 6 nieces and nephews and 9 great nieces and nephews.

To remember Greg and Ana please donate to a mental health or environmental charity in either of their names.

A celebration of life and memorial dedication will be held at Bush Hill Farm (330 Bush Hill Rd, Manchester) on August 10 at 1 pm. Light refreshments will be provided.

Greg was a good friend and a wonderful person. I first met Greg when we were in Cub Scouts together, but it wasn't until several years later, when we were in our mid-late teens, that I got to know him better, and started to spend more time with him. Subsequent to our teen years, he eventually met Ana, and I met and married Patty, which lead to many occasions when the four of us, and sometimes others, gathered together for fun and social gatherings. Greg was so kind and generous and helpful. Patty and I said "goodbye" to him in 2013, when we moved from CT to Arizona, but I got to see him and Ana one more time, in 2015, when I returned to CT for a visit. In the years that followed, Patty and I kept in contact with him through occasional emails and telephone calls. Patty and I will forever be grateful for the times we shared with Greg and with Ana. We extend our sincerest condolence to Diane and Mark, and to the rest of his family and his friends.
