Lebanon
Gregory D. Wentzel, loving husband of Jennifer Kope Wentzel and loved father of son, Dalton Alexander, died unexpectedly in his sleep at home on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.
Gregory was the first born son of Deacon Richard and Shirley Wentzel, Lebanon, and brother to Matthew Wentzel, (wife Erica) of Lancaster and Andrew Wentzel, Lebanon. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Joanne Kope, Lebanon; her daughter, Kim Zerbe and son, Edward III. His father-in-law, Edward Kope, Jr. preceded him in death. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Gregory was born in Lebanon, December 10,1966. He was a graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School's Class of 1985 and graduated as a Certified Paramedic from the University of Kansas. He was a medic since his youth with FASP, Lebanon. He served as a medic in San Diego, CA and most recently as a Paramedic for the First Aid and Safety Patrol for many years. He was one of the first paramedics in Lebanon in 1986. Gregory was a very knowledgeable, caring and compassionate medic. Gregory was an Eagle Scout from Boy Scout Troop 11. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, hiking, and biking with his family. He was a gardener, enjoyed woodworking, and with his wife Jen, rescued Huskies. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Viewing hours will be held on Sunday, March 12 from 6-8 p.m.and Monday morning from 9-11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 2 N. 8th St., Lebanon, PA 17046. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the church. Immediately following the service First Aid and Safety Patrol will honor Gregory with a motor procession to Rails and Trails his favorite hiking destination. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gregory 's name can be made to Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue, P.O. Box 773, Horsham, PA 19044. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements. We all miss Greg since his passing. Greg will be memorialized at the Lebanon County First Responders Memorial with a plague in his honor. RIP good friend.

We are so sorry to hear about Greg. His father has been involved in our lives at LCHS, church, etc.... I have never met Greg myself but he sounds as wonderful as his father and I know the loss is insurmountable. Wishing you all strength and healing as we and so many send prayers !

Back in the early 80s, I remember Greg and his brother Matt at Palmyra Fire department, attempting to become a Medic.
Palmyra Fire/ EMS at the time ,Being the first medic unit in lebanon county, most in Lebanon county came through us to complete thier training as a medic
Greg was always a very positive kid back then.
Sorry to hear about his death.
Looking at his photo, will remain that young kid I will always remember at palmyra back in 'the day '..
