Greta Cornell Lockwood Cronk died December 11, 2002, at Kendal at Ithaca. She was predeceased by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. William Ridge Cornell; a sister, Grace Cornell Cardwell; and her husbands, Orin James Lockwood Jr., and Erwin Connelly Cronk. She is survived by her loving daughter, Jean Lockwood Davidge and son-in-law John Sherwood Davidge; her adoring grandchildren, Elizebeth Cornell Davidge, Fremont, Calif., James MacLeod Davidge, and Anna Windle Davidge, Larkspur, Calif.; stepchildren, Carol M. Cronk and Peter J. Cronk; a niece, Janet Stevens Breen; and a nephew, James Malcom Stevens. She was born in Pitman, N.J., and graduated from Glassbouro State University. She had a successful career in real estate and at the IBM Homestead. She received the NY State "Woman of the Year" award for her numerous volunteer activities. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Binghamton Country Club, and the Monday Afternoon Club. She walked in beauty, grace, and dignity. Her deep faith, as well as her courageous, fighting spirit, set an example to all who knew her. Her family wishes to acknowledge the loving and dedicated nursing staff of Kendal at Ithaca.
Expressions of sympathy in memory of Greta Cronk may be made to Tri-Cities Opera, or the Phelps Mansion Foundation. Memorial services will be held at Kendal at Ithaca and First Presbyterian Church, Binghamton, at the convenience of the family.
