Guadalupe Fadal Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 3, 2021.

Guadalupe Zuniga Fadal, 71, passed away very unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, niece, aunt, great-aunt, and friend, who was a true blessing, and no words can express how much this kind, loving, generous person was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Guadalupe (“Lupe”) was born in El Paso, Texas on July 28, 1949, the first of nine children of Manuel and Alicia Zuniga. She studied and excelled at piano and organ at a very early age, soon becoming church organist for San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in El Paso. She attended Bel Air High School, and went on to graduate from the University of Texas at El Paso (“UTEP”), with a Bachelor Degree in Music, majoring in piano performance. She then enrolled in the University of Houston and earned her Master Degree in Music. She was an accomplished and very talented pianist, as well as vocalist.

Lupe was also very much a Nature child: a fascinated stargazer (whenever Houston would offer a clear night sky!); she loved beautiful flowers, and especially admired the tiny wildflowers that grew by the side of the road; and she really loved the desert region of El Paso, especially when the cactus was in bloom. She enjoyed bible study, learning (no matter the subject), reading (she was an avid reader), movies, shopping, and she loved and excelled in cooking.

She was an employee of ExxonMobil for over 34 years, advancing to the position of Executive Assistant in the Production Department, where she enjoyed her work assignments, meeting new people, and over the years, making new friends throughout the corporation.

Lupe and Tommy met at UTEP, where both were studying piano and voice, but have remained residents of Houston for over 50 years. They are members of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, very devoted to their church and to their faith.

Lupe is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 41 years, Tommy, five loving siblings (Christina Gonzales, Mary Angela Guerrero, Socorro Alicia Piontek de Zuniga, Grace Gloria Zuniga, and Jose Angel (“Joe”) Zuniga), as well as loving aunts and uncles, and numerous loving cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Lupe was preceded in death by her parents, her infant sister Cynthia, and two brothers, Mark and David.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Houston, Texas, or to the charity of your choice.

Tommy and Family, my deepest sympathy and condolences on the loss of Lupe! I was lucky enough to have met her a couple times over the years during my many trips to Texas. Her parents Manuel and Alicia were absolute Angels on Earth. The most amazing loving people ever. I know that while there is sadness here on Earth there is a glorious reunion in Heaven! I know that she is reunited with Father God and her parents! Lots of love, Karen!

Lupe and I worked together in ExxonMobil HR. She was always professional, kind and loyal in her interactions. What I remember most, however, was her devotion to Tommy. Theirs is truly a love story. Through the years, I occasionally ran into Lupe away from the office. Not once did I ever see her away from the office when she was not accompanied by Tommy. And, they both looked so happy and proud to be together. Praying for you, Tommy.

I also grew up with music all around me and I hope that beautiful music and the love of family and friends sustains you during this very difficult time. I know that Lupe is accompanying the heavenly choir of angels and watching over us. Blessings to you all. Love, Jan Madigan

I was fortunate to get to know and work with Lupe in the last few years at XOM before I retired. She had so many talents. But while work was very important to her, she glowed when she spoke of her loving family. May she rest in peace and may her loving memories quickly heal your pain and bring warmth.

Lupita, a light that shined as much as a shining star. She was and always will be my shining star along with my precious daughter in Heaven. Every time we met she was full of smiles. Happy and joyful. My heart is broken just knowing she is not physically here with us. This is the price we pay for loving someone so much. May our Sweet Jesus have Lupita in His arms and may eternal light shine upon her soul and all the faithfully departed. Sweet Jesus
have Mercy on her soul. We will meet again my friend. I dearly love you.

It was always a treat to work with Lupe. There was no one kinder. She even managed to find positive in my mistakes. It saddens me that such a beautiful flower has left our garden, but her kind spirit will be with us forever.

How graced was this world to have Lupe for the time God allowed! She was our friend, our mentor and our rock that helped us through good times and bad. Along with the love of her life, Tommy, she gave us years of laughter, advice (sometimes in Spanish which we didn't understand) and unconditional love. You will be missed our dear, dear friend but we are quite certain you are with God helping Him along with your sage advice and He understands Spanish!

There are so many memories of Lupe that help sooth the feelings of loss that her passing brings. She was simply one of the most loyal and caring friends that one could hope to have. Her devotion to faith and Tommy were always evident with each day. Seeing her smile or hearing her laugh brightened each morning. My wife and I are truly blessed to have had her in our lives. With Loving Memories, may you rest in peace with your Lord and Savior. Rod and Karen

My dear beloved sister you were my mentor, both for my professional and personal growth. You were my care giver when I was at my most weakest and vulnerable. You never passed judgement on me yet you kept "it real" - always gently nudging me when I would start going off track. Eventhough we were miles apart I felt like we were sitting right next to each other when we call each other just to catch up. Life will go on for me - days turning into years but silent tears will forever shriek my face because , for me, you and I just started our journey. You showed yourself to be a most valued loved friend and sister. The fact that you are no longer here will always cause me pain but you are forever in my heart until we meet again. I will miss you trmendously!
