Gus Aslanidis Obituary
Gus Aslanidis, 85, Columbia, MO passed away at The Bluffs on Sunday, November 20, 2016, surrounded by his family.
Funeral service will be on Monday, November 21, 2016 at St. Luke Orthodox Church, Columbia, MO at 1:00 PM. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Gus was born on March 18, 1931 in Koukos, Greece to Dimitrious and Thespina Aslanidis who preceded him in death. He was married on January 8, 1950 in Koukos, Greece to Kasiani Terzopoulos who preceded him in death on June 29, 2012. He was the owner and operator of G&D Steakhouse in Columbia, MO since opening in 1970.
He is survived by four children, Dimitrious Aslanidis (Tina), Angelo Aslanidis (Elly), Maria Duncan (Douglas) and Alex Aslanidis (Renee) all of Columbia, MO; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two more great grandchildren on the way. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Epraksia Sevaslidis in 2001.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association, c/o Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 West, Columbia, MO 65202.

Our family will miss Gus so much. He was a wonderful man and raised a wonderful caring family. He seemed part of our family, too. My thoughts are with the family, know that you have an angel watching out for you because I'm sure Gus already earned his wings on Earth.

One of my first jobs as a teenager was working at G&D. Gus and the whole family treated me like family the whole time. To this day I walk in the door and they recognize me. Hard to find another place that cares so much about the service they provide and the wonderful meals but also the family atmosphere. Gus you were a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew you.Guess our lord wanted the best steak in the world so he brought Gus home. Prayers to everyone .

It pains my heart to hear of his passing. One of the nicest gentlemen I've ever known. I visited the restaurant often with my grandparents and he knew all of us by name. I recall one time when I was probably about 5 or 6 years old that he gave me the cap right off his head because I commented that it was a really cool hat. One of my fondest memories of someone sharing and giving even 35 years later.
