Dr. Gus J. Perdigon, III, 79, devoted Tampa dentist, died peacefully on December 24, 2018 in Gainesville, FL. Gus was a child of God; a loving husband, father and grandfather (Papa Gus); and an avid Gator fan! Born in Tampa on August 18, 1939 to parents Gustave & Georgie, he graduated from Plant High School, University of Florida and Loyola University College of Dentistry, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1965. Gus was commissioned as an officer into the U.S. Navy where he achieved the rank of Captain, serving his country for 25 years at Naval Base San Diego (California) and the Tampa Naval Reserve Unit. Gus practiced dentistry for 40 years in Tampa where he was devoted to caring for his patients and passionate to his staff and the advancement of his profession as President of the Hillsborough County Dental Association, member of Florida Dental Association and UF College of Dentistry Committee of 100, and inductee into International College of Dentists. He was an active member of Ye Mystic Crewe of Gasparilla and Palma Ceia, Tampa Yacht, University and Merrymakers clubs. Gus was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jane Martineau. He is survived by his beloved faithful wife, Sylvia; brother, Lee (Jane); children, Scott (Shellie) and Rob (Liz) both in Miami, Patricia Moser (Mike) in Gainesville, and Matthew Pitts (Stacey) in Pinellas Park; and his precious grandchildren, Jake, Emma, Jane, Olivia, Spencer, Ella, Pene, Katherine and James. Gus' celebration of life memorial mass will be on January 5, 2:00 PM at Christ the King Church, 821 S. Dale Mabry. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to the Catholic Dental Mission, Renew Haiti Inc., 821 S. Dale Mabry Tampa FL 33609.
