Guy E. Merrifield

WINGDALE - Guy passed away peacefully on Nov. 10, 2011 at 10:00 AM at home surrounded by his loving family. Guy was born in Rome, NY on May 20, 1947, son of Edmund R. and Kathryn (Gronheit) Merrifield. His father moved the family to Plattsburgh, NY in 1953. Guy attended Beekmantown Central School and graduated in 1965. He fell in love with Susan Mary Reid of Plattsburgh, and they were married in Plattsburgh on March 21, 1970: they have two wonderful sons, Scot and Tracy, and Guy and Susan belong to the Congregation of Jehovah Witness of Dover Plains, NY.

Guy had a great love of motorcycles, the Buell and Triumph were his favorites, birds, cats, dogs, "horses", and all of Jehovah's creatures. Guy was kind, loving, and giving of himself; he had great joy spreading Jehovah's word.

Guy worked for NYSE&G for 12 years. Even though his health had been poor at times, he became an accomplished stone mason. He has left his work throughout the Wingdale area and nearby Connecticut, in the form of dry stone walls and pillars. " Guy will be dearly missed; we will see him soon in Jehovah's new Kingdom."

Guy is survived by his loving wife, Susan; sons Scot, and his wife Tina, and Tracy; his mom, Kathryn; his sister, Ellen Hall and her husband, Shaun; his mother-in-law, Ferna Reid Facteau; brothers-in-law, Larry Reid and Andre Reid and his wife, Janice; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is predeceased by his brother, Tracy, whom he loved dearly; his loving father Edmund; and his paternal Merryfield grandpatents and his maternal Gronheit grandpatents.

There will be a memorial service at the Kingdom Hall, Route 22, Dover Plains, NY on Sun, Nov. 13th at 3 PM.

Arrangements are under the supervision of the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Guy's memory may be made to the JH Ketchum Fire Dept. & Rescue Squad or Jehovah Witness Kingdom, c/o Susan Merrifield, 13 Clearview Road, Wingdale, NY 12594.
