Guy Sirois Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 23, 2016.
Guy Sirois

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dear brother, Guy Sirois, who passed away after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Guy was predeceased by his parents, Madeline and Allyre Sirois. He is survived by his sisters, Valerie, Marianne (Marc) Taillon, Lisa (Mario) Taillon; and his brothers, Richard (Wendy), and Norman (Sandi); in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Guy was born in Gravelbourg, SK and attended secondary school at Collège Mathieu, as well as Holy Cross and E.D. Feehan High Schools in Saskatoon. He also completed a Forestry/Conservation course through SIAST. He worked at a mining camp in northern Saskatchewan and at St. Paul's Hospital before becoming a full time caregiver to our father. For this, his family is eternally grateful. Family was important to Guy, and he was always present at family birthdays and gatherings, and enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews who loved him a great deal and will miss him dearly. Guy was a gentle soul and fiercely independent. He travelled extensively in Europe, working both at a vineyard and an orchard in the South of France. Other travels were to the Caribbean and to Mexico with his family where he enjoyed swimming in the ocean. Guy was a lover of rock and roll, photography, and of animals. We will miss his happy-go-lucky nature and his sense of humour. The family wishes to personally thank his family physician, Dr. Alex Yatsina and his staff, and all other caregivers who tended to Guy's needs during his illness. Life was not always an easy road for Guy, and we now wish him everlasting peace when he reunites with our dear parents. Repose en paix cher frère. Dors bien avec les anges, comme dirait Papa. Ta famille qui t'aime beaucoup. Au revoir au ciel. The Vigil for Guy will be held at Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens Parish (1007 Windsor St) on Monday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Holy Family (123 Nelson Rd) on Tuesday, April 26, at 10:00 a.m. with Most Reverend Donald Bolen as celebrant. A Private Burial will follow with the Rite of Committal with immediate family in Vonda, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saskatchewan -Canadian Mental Health Association (www.sk.cmha.ca) or the Schizophrenia Society of Saskatchewan (www.schizophrenia.sk.ca). Arrangements in care of David Polzen - Mourning Glory Funeral Services, Saskatoon, SK (306) 978-5200. Condolences may be left at www.mourningglory.ca.

To the Sirios Family. I have just read of Guys passing. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a class mate at College. We had a great time growing up together. We played basketball whenever we could. Good little player. Remembering Guy with a smile. Keep smiling !

I became friends with Guy when I tended bar at Cheesetoast on 7th Ave. There I met his Father, Uncle and Guy. All were very charming and we shared many stories and laughs. I used to go over to his place after work and we would listen to his classic albums and sometimes have a Grande Marnier. His little bird was his topic of interest and lots of stories about when he traveled. I last seen Guy probably 10 years ago, with my daughters and his whole face lit up. " Honey Bun" he always called me. It was a joy to talk with him he always put a smile on my face. I've just now learned of his passing. I hope he has peace on the other side as he deserves it.
Good-bye Guy. You are missed

Dear Rick and the Sirois family.
I was very deflated when I heard that my friend Guy had passed, and I just want you to know that you had a very special brother. He was special to me as a good friend during our time together boarding at College Mathieu. We played sports together and I remember his furosity; we ate together every day at the same table; we shot baskets during our leisure opportunities; and he was the best with the corner swoosh, and those were the most important for our wins. His prowess in football, too, was amasing, and he always managed to pull a rabbit out of his hat, as did you, Rick. Guy and I spat a lot of spits together while watching the Habs sitting on steel gym chairs in the TV room, and at times, we were in mutual head-locks in the gym waiting for the other to pass out because neither of us could say, "uncle". Guy and I were a big part of each other's lives back then. We laughed together and we fought together. We respected each other. Man, he was tough. And we helped each other out. Over supper, we'd have the greatest discussions. In the morning, at breakfast, we were usually both a bit grumpy. But, I remember one thing we both enjoyed, was dipping our toast and peanutbutter into our coffee and laughing our heads off. We also got such a kick out of outsmarting the "authorities". Man, I miss Guy. We were buds back then and we loved life to the fullest.

Guy, we will see each other again.

Heartfelt sympathy from the Little Family. Guy was always so friendly and happy to see us whenever he saw us. He always stopped to chat and inquire how we were all doing, never ever concerned about his own health. I will miss his happy, smiling face in Canarama Shopping Mall where I always ran into him. Rest In Peace Guy. , Liz ,Vern, Robyn, Karen, Curtis Little.

Dear Sirois Family, We were so sorry to learn of Guy's passing. Our parents enjoyed his neighbourly visits over the years and Dad kept all of us up to date on Guy's travels and adventures. We remember Guy always having time for a friendly chat over the fence or through "Whiskey Trail". Our thoughts are with you all at this time.

Our deepest condolences to the Sirois Family.
Guy and I go back a long ways to the College Mathieu years in the 1970's.
We became very close friends during our teenage years and carried this through well into our adult life.
All though time has slipped by Guy and I always managed to send Christmas cards to each other up until a couple years ago.
Guy would always write something so loving and caring. he always asked how our boys were even though he did not know them. Guy was a very genuine human being.
I will always cherish our friendship and the time we spent together.
I am so sad to hear of Guy's passing.
Love and Respect to all the family during this time of sorrow.

Respectfully
Rick and Rita Bolen and family.

Dear Norman and family. Please accept my condolences on the passing of Guy. Like you and your family members, he made the world a better place because he was here. He remains here through all whom he influenced, undoubtedly making the world a much better place because he was here and remains so.
