LUNDY Gwendolyn Marion Cooper Passed away peacefully on April 27, 2004 in her 90th year, surrounded by her loving family. To her many friends and family, Gwen was an extraordinary woman who lived her life with joy, passion, optimism, enthusiasm, kindness, humour and a tremendous compassion for all who crossed her path. Born in Barons, Alberta in 1914, to Will and Molly Cooper, she grew up in a close, loving family with her older brother Ed and younger sister Lois, both of whom havepassed away. At twenty, she married Dr. Arthur Baldwin, but was only able to spend a brief two years with him before he became ill and passed away. Gwen then moved to Vancouver to join her brother Ed and sister Lois, and enrolled andgraduated from the newly developed Social Work program at UBC. She then moved to the Okanagan where she became an energetic and dedicated caseworker. At the age of 31, she met and married her beloved Charles Lundy, who became the Deputy Minister of Welfare for B.C. Charlie brought to the marriage his stepdaughter Mary (Webb, since deceased) and his daughter Florence, who became Gwen's much loved friend. Gwen and Charlie created a loving, happy home in Victoria for their three daughters Nancy, Christine, and Joanne. Sadly, Charlie suffered a heart attack and passed away only 9 years after their marriage. Using her formidable strength of character, Gwen went to work with the Family and Children's Service for many years as a Social Worker and Marriage Counselor. While dedicated to her family, Gwen also found time over the years to be very involved in church and community in many different ways. With a sense of adventure, Gwen also took a position in Whitehorse for two years. In her 79th year, to Gwen's great joy, she fell in love and married Sidney Lindstedt. She felt privileged not only to love Sid, but also to welcome and enjoy Sid's three children - Heather and husband Brian, Sidney Patricia and husband Keith, and Gordon and partner Mark. When Gwen suffered a massive stoke only months after marrying, Sid was not only a loving partner who brought laughter and happiness, but cared for Gwen beautifully until his sudden death in the spring of 2000. Gwen's daughters would like to give thanks to the Lindstedt family for all their care and attention to Gwen. The family is also grateful to Agnes Pahelga, beloved personal caregiver "extraordinaire" who provided devoted and loving care to Gwen for 9 years. We would also like to acknowledge the attention and love that Jean McLeod bestowed on our mother. A special thanks is also extended to the caregivers at the Lynn Valley Care Centre in North Vancouver who eased our mother's passage with such kind care. Gwen has been surrounded her entire life by people who enjoyed and loved her deeply. Wishing her Godspeed and gentleness in her well-deserved rest, are her daughters and their hth Vancouver who eased our mother's passage with such kind care.
