Gwendolyn "Cheryl" Martens, 67 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. She was born on Friday, November 10, 1950, in Hammond, Louisiana to George O., Jr. and Ethel Clark Martens. Cheryl enjoyed life and loved traveling to new places, going on cruises and sharing her experiences. She loved and adored her family especially her nieces and nephews and was always there for them when they needed her. Cheryl was very generous and kind to anyone she ever met. Cheryl is survived by her sisters, Deborah Clayton and Lisa Ann Wainwright and her husband Lewis, Jr., her nephews, Jason Clayton and his wife Ursenie and Lewis "Lew" Wainwright III, her nieces, Sabra W. Davis and her husband Justin, Madison Wainwright and her fiancé Robert Hirata and Julie Clayton, her great niece Ashlyn Clayton, her great nephew Noah Clayton Davis and many close friends. Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, George O, Jr. and Ethel Clark Martens, her husband, Jewell "Sonny" E. Brewer, Jr., her brother in law Jimmie Clayton and her niece Ashley Clayton. A Visitation for Cheryl will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. A Funeral Service Celebrating Cheryl's Life will immediately follow visitation at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum in Hammond.
