Gwendolyn Meyers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 13, 2022.
Gwendolyn "Gwen" Mae (Sanders) Meyers, 97 passed away peacefully in Renton, WA on Sunday December 27th , 2021. Gwen was born in September 1924 in Meadowlands, MN.
After graduating, she trained in Duluth to be a machinist. As a typical "Rosie the Riveter", Gwen moved to Seattle to work for Boeing, met her husband Maury there, and they married in August 1943.

After raising her family, she worked as a secretary, then became an award-winning real estate agent. She also encouraged the family to work together buying and repairing older rental houses, which became her legacy. In addition, she loved singing, teaching guitar, and playing music with her family and friends. She always enjoyed golfing and loved having parties. Gwen was adored by everyone, and she enriched the lives of all those who knew her.

Gwen was preceded in death by her husband Maurice "Maury" Harwood Meyers and her parents Edith Celia (Froehlich) Sanders and Noble "Ray" Raymond Sanders. Also, her brother Raymond "Wayne" DeWayne Sanders and sister Jacquelyn "Jackie" Myrth (Sanders) Zubrod.

She is survived by her son Richard Maurice Meyers and his son Christopher. Daughter Maureen Gwen Vanderpas, and her children Randy Gibbs (his son Evan) and Michelle Bentz (her daughters Samantha, Amanda, and Brianna). Also, many special people that Gwen happily "adopted" into the family circle.

To quote what Gwen said at her 80th birthday party: "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely…but rather to skid in sideways, …body totally worn out and screaming… Wooo Hooo… What a Ride!!!"

There will be a celebration of Gwen's life to be announced at a later date. If desired, donations can be sent to the Alzheimer's Foundation: act.alz.org.

I love her attitude of life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely, ...., that reflects her attitude in everything in life, work, play anything she undertook to do. I love and miss her.
