Hana Kaku Obituary

Hana KAKU Hana Kaku, 100 years old, passed away on January 22 in Seattle. Hana was born on May 1, 1905 in Kumamoto, Japan. She married Kazuji Kaku in 1923 and came to California to raise her family in San Jose. They evacuated to Utah during WWII. After the War the family moved to Idaho, then to Moses Lake and Quincy, WA. After the death of her husband in 1968, Hana lived near her children in Hood River, OR; San Jose; Honolulu; and Mercer Island. Hana is survived by a younger sister in Japan and seven children, Hisako Tamura (Hood River), Masako Yamamoto (Sacramento), Frances Yoshino (Mercer Island), Dr. Mich Kaku (Carmel, CA), Dr. Roy Kaku (Honolulu), John Kaku (San Jose) and Dale Kaku (Mercer Island); 17 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held in Hood River at a later date. Rememberances may be made to Kokoro Kai, 700-6th Ave. S., Seattle 98104.
