Hank Parker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 24, 2019.
The Reverend Henry Bradley Parker, II, known to most as Pastor Hank Parker, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of March 24, 2019. Pastor Hank's life was defined by his love of his Savior, his love of his family and his love of everyone he encountered – sinner or saint. Pastor Hank was born August 2, 1946, and accepted Christ and was reborn on February 4, 1973, in the back bedroom of the house on 8527 Holly Hill Road in Richmond, Virginia. A proud Navy veteran who served in the Vietnam War, Pastor Hank began his ministry through evangelism – passing out tracks, witnessing to all who crossed his path and sharing the message of salvation to the inmates of the prison system. Soon after, his ministry extended to all of Richmond through the radio and the creation of the "60-Second Warm Up." The 60-Second Warm Ups are short messages designed to "fire up the saints" to live Godly lives and win souls for Jesus. These messages have now grown to daily emails and a published one-year devotional. In 1995, Hank retired from his career at Philip Morris and began Grace Alive Outreach Church in Richmond, Virginia. Pastors Hank and Patsie shepherded this congregation for 22 years until moving to San Antonio in 2017. He continued to minister in Texas churches and prisons until he was called home. His commitment to serving inmates totaled 46 years beginning immediately after he came to know the Lord. Hank leaves behind, in the care of the Lord, his loving wife of 52 years, Patsie Elliott Parker, two daughters whom he loved dearly, Christina Marie Parker and Melanie Parker Clark (Chad) and sister, Betty Kay Switzer (Ronnie). He leaves behind grandchildren Nicholas Gregory Richards, Nathan Bradley Richards, Lauren Grace Clark, Cole Aaron Clark, and Alexandra Faith Clark. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Bradley Parker and Anna Louise Thompson Parker. He also leaves behind and joins in heaven above all the lives he touched - those who know the Lord because of his ministry. In this time, Hank would remind us that we "overcome him through the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony" (Revelations. 12:11). The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Cornerstone Church in the Vada Hagee Chapel. SERVICE FRIDAY, MARCH 29, 2019 11:00 AM CORNERSTONE CHURCH VADA HAGEE CHAPEL A memorial service will be held in Richmond, Virginia at a later date.

So much love, such a big laugh and always a smile. Hank Parker was a gem. He prayed with me to receive the Holy Spirit when I was 21 years old. What a gentle man with a huge heart for all people. My prayers for Patsie and the girls and their families. So many memories to cherish. -Marci Mastracco Muldoon (Larry Muldoon)

Brother Hank was and will always be a blessing to everyone he met. I will miss his smile especially on Monday Night at our M2M fellowship which he very frequently honored us by teaching the class. An absolute role model for others and a man's man that loves his family and took every opportunity to not only describe his earthly pride and joy but to also to witness about Christ to any and everyone. We are all much better for meeting and enjoying fellowship with Brother Hank even at the Mission Ridge. Thank you for sharing this good with us and I hope The Lord will comfort you through these days of sorrow and I certainly look forward to seeing Brother Hank again.

This is Hank's sister, Virginia Parker Dean's son, John Wiley Dean, Alabama cousin, brother to Betty Dale Dean Walker and Ida Sue Dean Hines. Thanks so much for streaming the service so cousins in Texas, Alabama, Virginia and other places could attend. It was a beautiful celebration of the life of a wonderful Christian husband, father and grandfather. We are so grateful for the life of Hank II and his love and concern for others. God bless your wonderful family and comfort and care for you.
