Dear Belinda and Nicholas,
My career overlapped with Hans' at NEOUCOM. I always admired his accomplishments, professionalism, and huge intellect. In 2006 I attended the dinner honoring his promotion to full professor. After receiving his congratulations and handshake from the dean, Hans addressed the gathering. He spoke of what is important in a career and in life and what he valued most, holding both of you and your love as absolutely most important. His words touched me deeply as a reiminder for my own life, and I hold them close today. I am grateful that you had these additional years together and I grieve for your loss. May God bless you and keep you.

Dear Belinda, Nicholas, Gosta, Stefan, and Annalena,
Dr. Folkesson was an amazing scientist, wonderful boss, and entertaining friend. Hans and I were really excited about the new laboratory experiments we were starting and talked often about them. He couldn’t wait to get back into the lab! He always gave me the highest compliments when it was time for my review. Hans always kept me laughing, usually when I was trying to do surgery! He also told many stories of his life and shared his incredible photos. I will never be able to hear the song “Bad to the Bone” without thinking of his ringtone! He will be greatly missed.

A dear colleague.

Dear Belinda and Nicholas,
Hans was a dear friend and a great guy. He was honest, intelligent and had a great sense of humor. He had an enlightened perspective on many subjects, and was a joy to talk to. Whenever I asked him to help me with a problem, I knew I could count on him to solve it. He was a beloved colleague and I am thankful for having known him. His influence lives on in our memories, in his scientific and scholarly contributions, and in the lives of the many students with whom he has shared his knowledge over the years.

Dear Belinda and Nicholas. I have worked with Hans for many years and have been blessed by knowing him. A very intelligent caring individual that hid his illness as best he could, always without complaining. He was proud to share pictures of you both with a grand smile! He will be missed. I will pray for God's healing and strength in both of your lives. Diana Dubinsky, NEOUCOM
