SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Harold V. Carey, 84, of Sleepy Hollow Drive, Cumberland, R.I., passed away peacefully, Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at North Bay Manor, Smithfield.

He was the husband of Helen Carey. They were happily married for 61 years.

Born in Wakefield, Mr. Carey was the son of the late John and Margaret (Doyle) Carey. He was in sales and management in the metals business for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He was a navy veteran of WWII and Korea.

Mr. and Mrs. Carey lived in Yarmouth before moving to Cumberland, R.I., in 2003, to be closer to their daughter Janice, her husband Kevin, and granddaughter Jessica.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, N. Quincy Council; VFW, Yarmouth Post; CYO Drum and Bugle Corp., Dorchester, MA.; coordinator of Drum and Bugle Corp., Mayflower circuit; Iron Golf League, Cambridge, MA.; and past president of the Father's Club, Regis College, Weston, MA.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at 10 a.m., in St. John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland, R.I. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Care of R.I., 169 George St., Pawtucket, R.I., 02860, would be appreciated. Arrangements by O'Neill Funeral Home.

I am very sorry for your loss. I remember Mr. Carey from Mayflower when my dad Larry Milliken worked with him. He was a very nice man.
