PLANO, Texas — Harold A. Goldberg of Plano, Texas, formerly of Swampscott, age 92, entered into rest on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008 at his residence in Texas.
Born in Lynn on Feb. 18, 1916, he was the son of the late Casper and Sarah (Bloomberg) Goldberg. He was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1934 and Tufts University, Class of 1938.
He was the co-owner of Goldberg Furniture Company in Lynn.
He is survived by his devoted son, Chet Goldberg and his wife Jamie; his loving brother, Theodore Goldberg; six cherished grandchildren, Jaren Landen and her husband Ron, Sarah, Lerrin, Jordan, Brielle ad Jackson Goldberg; three dear great-grandchildren, Ava, Jansen and Colten Landen; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his devoted caregiver and companion, Maria Chicas. He was also the loving brother of the late Gertrude Aronson, Benjamin Goldberg, Marion Freedman and Edith Winetsky.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008 at 12 p.m. at the Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin St., Salem, followed by interment in Congregation Shirat Hayam Cemetery, Temple Israel Section, Peabody. Memorial observance will be held immediately following the interment on Thursday at the Community Building at Summit Estates, 1000 Paradise Road, Swampscott. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be donated to the Jewish Family Service, 5402 Arapaho Road, Dallas, TX 75248 or to the Talking Book Program, P.O. Box 12516, Austin, TX 78711-2516.

Dear Chester:
My Grandmother and your Father shared the most wonderfully devoted love and friendship for each other. They looked out for each other and spoke almost daily during the past few years. Nana always referred to Harold as "the Baby" and when he turned 90, I asked her if she still needed to call him by that name. She said "Yes," Harold will always be the "Baby." When Marion started to fail, Harold said to June that his "they weren't kids anymore and this was to be expected." The Goldberg family is a proud one and the siblings are fortunate to have lived into their 90s. We miss Edith terribly as did her siblings. It's meaningful that Nana will be with Harold, Jack, Nana Sarah, and the family as they all loved each other so much!
