Harold D. Mason

HAROLD D. MASON Harold went to be with his Lord October 1, 2017. He was born August 10, 1920 to Peter August Bintz and Alice Ruth Rien Bintz. After his parents divorced his mother married Mr. Charles Edward Mason, Charles Mason adopted Harold. After growing up in Los Angeles area he came to Arcata, California to work at the California Barrel Factory, Chicago Bridge and as a ship fitter. He served in the Navy during World War 11 aboard the St Cloud Victory and the Battleship New Jersey. After his service, he worked in carpentry for various contractors. He had his own cabinet shop in Santa Cruz, California.Harold then went into drafting architectural and mapping. He liked to do drafting, woodwork, gardening, and to travel. He met his wife of 65 years plus at the Nazarene Church and they married September 4, 1940. He had two daughters Lanova Ann Allender and Dale Marie Story. Survived by his two daughters and their husbands Lanova Ann Allender and husband Robert, Dale Marie Story and husband Roger. Five grandchildren, Peter Premer (deceased), Shevawn Maule ad husband Eddie, Jarod Premer and wife Debbie, David Story and wife Sandra, and Stephen Story. Eleven great-grandchildren Christopher Delk and wife Sara Hannon, Sarah Premer, Jeremy Premer, Ashley Hiatt, Zachary, Nickolas, Anthony, Michael, Abby, Lindsey and Shane Story. Six step children Autumn Wilson and her husband Aaron, Autumn Brown, Alyssa Guthrie, Kadie Nugent, Hayley Nugent, Alaina Allender.Five great grandchildren, Madison Premer, Landon Hiatt, Gwendolyn, Penelope Story, and Payton Weber. He leaves behind his faithful companion Fisher. Preceded in death by his infant son, Peter, his mother Alice Mason, adopted father Charles Mason, his father Peter Bintz, his mother -in-law, Sarah (Sadie) Emery, brother-in-law Homes Harlan, grandson Peter Premer and his beloved wife Anne Belle Mason. He played in both the orchestra and band in Junior and Senior High. He played in three outside bands, South Gate Boys and Girls Band, Elks Band (Antlers) and the Intercity Band. He marched in the band in the Pasadena Rose Parade for three years while in high school. He was honored to be able to go on the Honor flight to Washington DC. He was a member and faithful worshiper at Eureka First Church of the Nazarene and faithful worshiper at Faith Center Foursquare Church. Memorial will be at Sanders Funeral Home Chapel at 1835 E St., Eureka CA at 12:30PM with a reception following the service to be held at the Nazarene Church, Humboldt and E Street, Eureka, CA.
