Harold McCoy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 14, 2024.
Harold McCoy, a cherished resident of Englewood, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2024, in Cherry Hill, NJ, at the age of 89. He was surrounded by his loving daughter, Lynn, and her family during his final moments.

Born in New York City to Columbus and Catherine McCoy in December, Harold moved with his parents and three brothers to Englewood, NJ, where he attended local public schools and graduated from Dwight Morrow High School. His passion for aviation began early; after enlisting in the United States Army National Guard and receiving an Honorable Discharge. Harold pursued flying lessons at Teterboro Airport, earning his pilot's license and amassing many flying hours. Harold started his career as an electronics technician repairing televisions. Then he continued electrical work for hospitals and other buildings. He became a member of the IBEW Electrical Workers Union Local 3 until his retirement.

Harold married his sweetheart Marcia after she graduated from Nyack High School. Together they had four children: Mark, Harold, Steven, and Lynn. Although their marriage ended after 25 years, Harold held deep respect for Marcia, who was his beloved ex-wife.

He was predeceased by Marcia and their son Mark. Harold is survived by his sons Harold and Steven, and his daughter Lynn. He was a devoted grandfather to Joseph, Contessa, Nevin, Star, Noah, Ileena, and Kiara, and a proud great-grandfather of four great-grandchildren.

Harold is also survived by his sister Catherine and his brothers Mack and Clarence, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by siblings Randolph, Archie, Raymond, and Allen.

Throughout his life, Harold was an avid enthusiast of flying, boating, skiing, roller skating, bike riding, dancing, and music. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, staying active in his community, and embracing every opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.

A Zoom memorial to celebrate Harold McCoy's remarkable life will be held in a few weeks. Friends and family will be provided with the link to join the virtual gathering.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Harold's memory, honoring his spirit of adventure and community service.

Harold McCoy will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, unwavering love for his family, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.

As you flew away to be with the Lord, we will always carry your memory in our hearts.

Revelation 21:4

"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away".
