Harold McGeorge Obituary

Harold Love McGeorge Jr., 89, of Memphis, died Monday, August 24 at Baptist Trinity Hospice Unit. Mr. McGeorge graduated from Central High School in Memphis and from the University of Virginia. He served with honor as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy in the Pacific in World War II. After the war, he embarked on a career in business management, working for Staff-O-Life, Nutrena Feeds and Cargill Inc., retiring in 1982. He began a second career with Boyle Investments as business manager of Stonebridge Golf Club and Farmington Country Club, fulfilling his great passion for the game of golf, until 1991. He was a member of Delta Sigma Fraternity at Central High School, Chi Phi Fraternity at UVA, the University Club of Memphis and the Memphis Country Club, as well as a lifelong communicant of the Episcopal Church. Mr. McGeorge was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Harriet Northcross McGeorge. He is survived by his wife, Betty Crump Pidgeon McGeorge of Memphis; his son, Harold Love McGeorge III of Memphis; two daughters, Harriet McGeorge Thompson of Memphis, and Lee McGeorge Durrell of Jersey (British Isles); two grandchildren, Lauren McGeorge and Patrick McGeorge, of Memphis; a stepdaughter, Pallas Pidgeon, of Memphis, her daughter, McLean McGown, of Los Angeles, and a stepson, Edward Pidgeon, of Hernando. Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 26 in St. John’s Cemetery, Central at LaFayette.
