Harold S. Merck

WALLINGFORD - Harold S. Merck, 90, died Friday, June 23, 2017, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 24, 1926, in Newark, New Jersey, the son of Albert and Caroline (Dombrosky) Merck.
Following graduation from high school, he served in the U. S. Army 8th Calvary Division during World War II.
Mr. Merck married Barbara Rice Sept. 2, 1990.
He was self-employed as a master carpenter operating Merck Construction Co., as well as a subcontractor for many years before retirement.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, of Wallingford; a daughter, Gail LeRoy, of Holbrook, New York, and a son, Scott Merck, of Colorado; four stepchildren, Ann Marie Migliozzi, of Oakdale, New York, Maryann Hiotis, Kathleen Reyes, both of West Babylon, New York, and Patrick Rice, of Wallingford; and 12 grandchildren.
Mr. Merck was predeceased by a sister, Mary Alber.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at Wallingford Aldous Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, at St. Patrick Church.
Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.
