Harold MOORES Obituary

MOORES Harold Harold passed away May 27, 2012, at his home in Cincinnati, under the care of his daughter, Ann Slaughter and Hospice. He was 88 years old and had suffered from Altheimers' disease. Harold was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1924, to Charles and Arcola Moores and lived most of his life in the Toledo area. He is preceded in death by his parents. Harold's first wife, Ruth (LaFountain); preceded him in death. He is survived by second wife, Jean (Doulin); son, Charles Moores, (Pam); daughters, Beverly Peabody, (Les), and Ann Slaughter, (Chad); sisters, Lulu Dersch, Arcola Dunn (Falor), and Ferne Hutchison (Tom). Harold was also preceded in death by his brothers, William Moores and Thomas Moores, and son, William Moores. He is survived also by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harold met his second wife, Jean, while visiting friends in Dayton. They married and lived many years in Dayton. Harold served in the Navy during World War I, entering during his senior year in high school. While in the Navy, Harold received his high school diploma. Harold married Ruth after service, began his family, and attended Toledo University on the GI Bill. He received his Civil Engineers license from the state of Ohio after attending night school. As a Civil Engineer he was instrumental in the development of the Southwyck Mall, many man-made lakes in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, and the Honda plant in Marysville. His family and work left little time for hobbies, but he loved playing golf. Harold will be greatly missed by all of his family. There will be graveside services at Toledo Memorial Cemetery for family. Anyone wishing to make a donation may send it to the Alzheimer's' Association.

With deepest sympathy to the family. I am so sorry. We were friends with Bill and Judy in our younger days. Ruthie was instrumental in the naming of my daughter. I didn't know Harold very well, but his family had a strong connection to mine. Prayers to all.
