He was born Nov. 30, 1912 in Yatesboro to Harve and Oda (Patrick) Sowers. Mr. Sowers was a chemistry and physics teacher at Ford City High School, retiring in 1973. An Army veteran, he was a staff sergeant serving in the 9th Army Anti-Artillery Battalion during World War II. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, Kittanning. His other memberships included the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include one son, James H. Sowers of Kittanning; and one sister, Dorothy Weaver of Kittanning RD5. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn E. (Blaney) Sowers, who died Oct. 8, 1990; and two brothers, Clair Sowers and Ivan Sowers. SOWERS ? Friends of Harold L. Sowers, 90, of 260 N. Water St., Kittanning, who died April 10 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Bauer Funeral Home, 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday with his pastor, the Rev. Arthur Seaman, officiating. Burial will be in Kittanning Cemetery, Rayburn Township.
