Harriet Anderson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 23, 2022.
October 11, 1935 - December 8, 2022 North Tustin Harriet Baughman Anderson (87) passed away on December 8, 2022, after a brief illness. Harriet was born on October 11, 1935, in Philippi, West Virginia to the late Elbern and Callie (Bartlett) Baughman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Derrick Arnold Anderson, to whom she was married for 62 years. Harriet was a graduate of Philippi High School and West Virginia University. She taught high school Home Economics in Fairfax, Virginia before starting her family. Derrick's job took them to Washington DC, San Diego, the Philippines, Cairo, Egypt, and Vienna, Virginia, but it was Santa Ana, California that she called home and where she spent most of her time raising her children and enjoying her grandchildren. Harriet was the ultimate hostess. She took pleasure in entertaining for special occasions and holiday dinners. She spent time volunteering for school and local libraries and church altar guilds. Her hobbies included sewing and quilting, reading, and gardening. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Kathleen Cather, Martha Van Horn, Jean Edge, and Sarah Westfall; brothers, Isaac Baughman and Roy Baughman. She is survived by her son and daughters, Paul (Mary), Sheila (John Townsend), and Myra (Joel Fugazzotto), along with her six grandchildren: Brian (Allyson), Eric, Aaron, Alicia, James, and Lia. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your favorite charity. Services will be held at Red Hill Lutheran Church in Tustin on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 10:30 AM.
