Harriet Ann Little, age 66, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 15, 2023. She was born in Durham, North Carolina on April 21, 1956, to Ann Miles Little and Thomas A. Little, DDS.
Known to her family and friends as Ann, she was raised in Durham, and attended Durham Academy, graduating from Northern High School in 1974. She attended North Carolina State University and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene in 1978. Ann moved to Atlanta, Georgia to start her career as a Dental Hygienist, moving to Wilmington in 1987 to be closer to family.
Ann took pride in her career as a dental hygienist, caring greatly for her patients. She enjoyed her time volunteering for Lower Cape Fear Hospice and the local animal shelter. Ann also enjoyed playing tennis, bicycle riding, and attending Pilates classes. She had a number of beloved pets, namely her dogs Tar Heel and Snuggles, and her cat Harley who lived to age 19.
Ann is survived by her loving mother and best friend, Ann Miles Little Smyth of Wilmington, and her brother Thomas “Tom” A. Little, his wife Janette Little and their daughters Anna and Ashley Little, all of Durham, and numerous cousins and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her father Thomas A. Little, DDS and her stepfather Philip J. Smyth.
Services will be private. Donations in her memory are requested to be made to All 4 Cats Rescue & Community Outreach at www.all4cats.org
