Just found this obituary and am so sad.
Harriet was such a help to me when I returned from Vietnam. She guided me and sent me to a great internship. After graduation I went onto C.W. Post and Hofstra for degrees in economics. After that I went to Wharton for an MBA.
As a result I had the opportunity to work for Jack Welch.
After that I started my own company and never looked back.
RIP Harriet.
Professors Emeritus Patricia O'Beirne, Candy Quinn Sutton, Maryellen McNama

Harriet this is such a perfect choice to honor your legacy. In the 1970's you were the only woman out of twenty white male faculty members (Which you probably enjoyed immensely). By the time I retired in 2008, the department had a high of 43 faculty more than half were women and people of color. You did that, you changed the view of acceptability of what a Professor looked like. Without you, myself, Marilyn Chaifetz, Vivian "Candy" Quinn Sutton and Connie Gottlieb, Maryellen McNamara, Barbara Bloomberg, Noreen Nackenson, Noreern Ford, Nancy Bloom, Sharon Wolfe, and so many others would never have been considered. You quietly supported the Children's Greenhouse, the on-site child care center which allowed myself and countless other faculty and students to pursue their dream and raise a family. And now some of your legacy is continuing yours with the planting of 100 trees.
The green leaves of spring bring us joy and laughter, beauty and hope, the brown leaves of fall land on the ground to nourish the earth once again. And so we honor you in replenishing the earth with newly planted trees.
