Harry Chapin Obituary
Harry was born in Albion, Orleans County, and lived most of his life in Lyons. He had lived for the past five years at La Costa Glen in Carlsbad, Calif., near his daughters, Gail and Susan. Harry was president of Vanderveer and Coleman of Lyons where he bought and sold kidney beans and wheat. He also presided over the New York Bean Shippers and Growers Association, was a member of the Wayne County Planning Commission, on the board of the Lyons Community Hospital and was an active member of the Lyons Presbyterian Church. Harry enjoyed boating on Canandaigua Lake. A member of the U.S. Army 579 AAA, D Battery, Harry served in the Pacific Theater in World War II. His service to our country earned him close friendships that remained with him to this day.
Harry truly enjoyed the companionship of his wife, Joyce Buhlmann Chapin, who survives him. He is also survived by his sister, Cynthia; daughters, Gail, Susan, and Carol; son, Harry; and seven grandchildren.
Harry was a man of principal and a realist who was never short of compassion. His family is most thankful for the laughter, love and guidance that he has provided.

It is with great sorrow that we read this today.We have known the whole famliy til they left for Calf. When we think of Dick and Joyce,we remember the years of friendship. Dick was a man of honor and repectful of people. He ran the business as a busniess but always was there for the people who live there.We felt sad when you left Elmer St.. We have great memories.
