Harry Douglas Ford

Harry Douglas "Doug" Ford, a lifelong resident of Woodville, MS, passed away on August 13, 2024, at the age of 76 in Baton Rouge, LA. Born on July 23, 1948, in Centreville, MS, to Harry Catchings Ford Jr. and Barbara Swango Ford, Doug held a deep pride for his home on Hwy 24, he lovingly referred to as "Paradise."

Doug is survived by his son, Harry Douglas Ford II (Jennifer Hughes), his daughter, Natalie Ford Woodward (Paul), and his beloved grandchildren, Owen, Liza, and Georgia Woodward. He is also survived by his sister, Cecelia Forman, and his devoted mother, Barbara Ford. Doug was preceded in death by his father, Harry C. Ford Jr., his brother, Kirk Ford, and many close friends who shared in his journey through life. After graduating from Woodville Attendance Center, Doug was drafted to serve his country in the Vietnam War, an experience that left a lasting mark on his life. Upon returning home, he dedicated many years to working at the paper mill. Later, Doug embraced his love for the family land, becoming a cattleman and taking great joy in driving through the pasture to check on his cows. Doug had a true gift for conversation, driven by a genuine love for connecting with people. His loyal friendships and deep affection for animals were cornerstones of his life. Doug's kind heart, captivating stories, and distinct sense of style left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was truly one of a kind, and he will be profoundly missed by the countless family members and friends he stayed close to, often reaching out through phone calls and handwritten letters. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Woodville Baptist Church, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. At a later date, his family will lay his ashes to rest at his cherished home on Hwy 24.
