Harry W. Nachtrieb
of Gasport passed away Friday afternoon, June 27, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Nachtrieb was born in Lockport, New York on June 17, 1935 son of the late Milton and Gertrude (Newton) Nachtrieb and he has lived in Gasport since l969 before that he resided in Lockport, NY.
He was a graduate of Lockport High School and was a member of the US Army National Guard.
He did computer instrumentation for the SPX Company in Connecticut.
He and his wife Joan (Murphy) Nachtrieb were married July 28, 1990 in Line, New York.
He was a 40- year member of the Gasport Chemical Hose Company and was an active Life Member of the fire company. He was also a 43- year member of Tri-Town Ambulance where he was also a Life Member and was a member of the Lockport Elks Club and longtime member of the Town of Royalton Planning Board.
He enjoyed his family and teaching his grandchildren electrical work and tool working and they called him
the "Gentle Giant".
He is survivied by is wife Joan M. Nachtrieb, his family Jerry (Susan) Nachtrieb of Gasport, Wendy (Peter) Marotta of Wilson, NY., Shari (John) Ramming of Round Rock, Texas, Lynn Nachtrieb of Naples, NY., Deborah (Scott) McKee of Medina, Sandra (Donald) Quackenbush, Kenneth (Elizabeth) Copella and Jennifer (Edward) Gillings all of Gasport.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.
Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Rodney Klinzing officiating.
Burial will be in Royalton Mt. Ridge Cemetery.
Memorials to the Gasport Chemical Hose Company or Tri-Town Ambulance would be appreciated by the Nachtrieb family.

To my dear dad.... I caught myself calling you the other day to ask how to fix something and had to drop the phone and cry realizing you weren't there to ask anymore... I miss you more than life its self and my heart is broken into a million pieces ..I pray you watch over me and help me when you can even in spirit.. I need your advice badly and I love you forever and always... until we meet again daddy... my heart has a giant hole in it until I see you again...

I miss you more than life its self and my heart is broken into a million pieces ..I pray you watch over me and help me when you can even in spirit.. To Harrys Family: I'm Sorry to hear that Harry Passed on. I have been in the Gasport Fire Co. for years and know he will be missed by the Fire Co. Tri Town Ambulance and so many people. He was a wonderful person and a man that would help you out if you need it and he is a man you won't forget. Gene

i am very sorry for the loss. i remember him from fire company. he was always ready to help when tri town ambulance needed help. i know because i served on tri town and alot of times needed help he was there.

I am so very sorry for the families loss. I grew up with Jerry, Wendy, Shari, and Lynn. I was at their house a lot and always loved when their dad was there.
