Harry Rundell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 19, 2025.
Harry "Lyle" Rundell, Jr., age 72, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, in Rockville, Maryland. Born on January 20, 1953, in Bethesda, Maryland, Lyle spent his life rooted in the community he loved.

A proud graduate of Einstein High School, Lyle built a life centered around family, friendship, and faith. For over four decades he attended The Presbyterian Church of the Atonement, where he found spiritual grounding and lasting fellowship.

Lyle was the heart of his family-a beloved son, brother, cousin, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Bev; his three sons and their wives; Jason (Kelly), Matt (Kristin), and Billy (Linsey); his mother Myrt; his sisters Linda and Diane; his mother-in-law, Helen and his brothers-in-law and their wives, Larry (Sally) and Dave (Michelle). He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren who brought him immense joy and countless extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry, his father-in-law, Bill and brother-in-law, Pat.

Known for his infectious laughter and playful spirit, Lyle had a gift for bringing people together. Whether teasing those he loved or sharing stories, he made every gathering brighter. He was an avid reader his whole life and also loved coaching his sons' teams. He enjoyed fishing and golfing-activities that reflected both his love for the outdoors and his easygoing nature. He was always up for a game of cards, or Trivial Pursuit. But perhaps nothing brought him more happiness than watching his grandchildren play sports-especially baseball-cheering them on with pride from the sidelines.

Lyle's legacy is one of warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear. His presence filled every room with light and laughter.

May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Funeral will be held on July 26, 2025, from 11:00 AM at The Presbyterian Church of the Atonement, 10613 Georgia Ave. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lyle's memory to the Presbyterian Church of Atonement.

Prayers of peace and comfort to Bev, my son in law, his brothers and all of the family. We have fond memories of him driving us to all of the DC sites, dropping us off and picking us up to go to the next site. We always lost in the game of ball toss and had to do the dishes. It was ok after a great meal and exceptional competition! Wonderful memories we cherish. God be with you now in this time of loss.
