Harry Weinberg Obituary

Harry E. Weinberg, of Lake Worth, Fla., and of Scranton, died Thursday at the Jewish Home. His wife, the former Jean Schoenhof, died Feb. 8.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Nathan and Rebecca Goodman Weinberg, he was a graduate of Scranton Central High School. Before retiring, he was the owner of the Scranton Cooperage Co.

He was a member of Temple Hesed and its Brotherhood. He was also a member of the Jewish Community Center, where he served as manager of its bowling lanes.

He was a former member of the Amity Club and was an outstanding bowler and golfer. He truly loved his family and all sports, especially golf.

Surviving are three daughters, Mindy Weinberg Fisher and husband, Barry, Bensalem; Emily Weinberg Trunzo, Clarks Summit; and Nancy Weinberg Penberg Brooke and husband, Clement, Hughesville, Md.; two brothers, David Weinberg and wife, Mildred, and George Weinberg, all of Scranton; 10 grandchildren, Eric Spatt and wife, Christine; Lori Trunzo Clark; Craig Trunzo and wife, Amber; Scott Penberg and wife, Fiona; Robert Penberg and wife, Ruth; David Fisher and wife, Melanie; Larry Fisher; Cheryl Yardley and husband, Scott; James Brady and wife, Amy, and Brenda Brooke and husband, John; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Jacobs, and two brothers, Monroe and Isadore "Barrels" Weinberg.

The funeral will be Sunday at 11 a.m. in Temple Hesed, 1 Knox Road, with services by Rabbi Daniel Swartz. Interment, Dalton Jewish Cemetery.

Shiva will be observed Sunday, 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the residence of his daughter, Emily Weinberg Trunzo, 523 Winola Road, Apt. C, Clarks Summit.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Home, 1101 Vine St., 18510; or Temple Hesed, 1 Knox Road, 18505.
