Harry Youngs Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 31 to Jun. 2, 2005.
YOUNGS, Harry In Honour of a Noble Man April 8, 1943 (Cornwall) - May 28, 2005 (Merrickville) Heaven's choir sounds so much sweeter since it welcomed Harry Youngs. His parents, Arthur and Mabel Youngs, encouraged Harry's passion for singing and entertaining which he enjoyed his entire life. His bands "The Noblemen" and "Young & Company" grew a devoted fan base over the years. To those many life-long friends who enjoyed Harry's music and whom he cared about deeply, thank you for enriching our lives. Harry and his wife Sylvia and their children Dan, Karen and Kristin ventured from Hamilton to Kemptville to Kars, and Harry and Sylvia recently settled in Merrickville. Dad, our love for you will live forever. Hailey has her Papa's voice and will sing for him every day. Rosie, Rob, Marcel and many other family members will miss him very much. Service will be held Friday, June 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Merrickville United Church, with visitation and reception at the church following the service. Interment will be a private service. The family gratefully thanks the staff of the palliative care unit at Kemptville District Hospital for the compassion and dignity they gave Harry in his final week. In lieu of flowers, friends and family may wish to make a donation to the Kemptville Hospital Foundation, palliative care unit. God bless you Harry, your loving memory means we'll never walk alone.

A very sincere thank you to all of you who sent well wishes and were there for us. I miss Dad very much, but he left me with 2 wonderful sisters, many warm memories and some very valuable life lessons that keep him with me always. I love you Dad.

Heartfelt thanks to all those who have taken the time to offer comforting thoughts and warm memories of the man we so dearly loved. He has left a legacy for all who knew him; our lives are richer for having known and loved him. He lives on in his children; only Hailey will know how special Papa made nursery rhymes sound. Until we meet again, we will never walk alone.

Karen, Hailey and family,

I recently heard and am deeply saddened to hear of Harry's passing. I know it is heartbreaking and hard to understand at times, but somehow you will find the strength to keep going.

Karen I am here if you ever want to talk, if you need a shoulder to cry on or if you just need someone to listen. I will miss running into your dad at the "Kars General Store", where he would tell me how you and Hailey are doing. Your Dad is so proud of you Karen! He was a great man who loved his family very much and will be greatly missed. Always know that he will be in your heart & with you forever.

I am thinking of you, you are in my prayers and if you need anything, please let me know.

I am an old friend of Kristin's from Ottawa, and I only met Harry Youngs once, but the one thing I remember is how much Kristin thought of her father and I want to say I am sorry. Kristin, even though we have gone different ways I am thinking of you and your family during this time of loss.

Sincerely,

Dear Paul,

I wish to express my deepest sympathies to you, Lou and the other band members who have played with Harry over the years.

Paul, I've singled you out because you were there from the beginning and I know that you are hurting as much as Harry's family.

You two made beautiful music together -- you are as awesome on the sax as Harry's vocals!!

I know that you and Lou both have many cherished memories!! Please know that you're in my thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Iris

Dear Sylvie, Dan, Karen, Kris and Hailey,

To have been given love and devotion by this man is a blessing to us all.

To have witnessed your dignity and grace as a family in this trial is a lesson to us all.

To know we will always hear Harry's magnificent voice is the gift that he gave us until we see that beautiful, gentle smile once more.

To the kids - I am so very proud of each of you. So is your Dad.

To my sister - Your courage and strength will never be forgotten. You were and will always be his "kitten".

God Bless You, angels,

Love Aunt B. - Barb

Dear Sylvia & Family:

My thoughts were with you today and I offer my sincere condolences on your the loss of Harry.

One sure legacy is the fun and entertainment he (and his band) gave to so many people.

I was one of the first employees at the Club on First Street when they catered to young teens.

I have always been a big fan of the "Noblemen". One of the most memorable "gigs" was the "Nobleman" reunion at The Armory in Cornwall around 1990 during a CCVS reunion.

I also have lots of fond memories of the time spent together in Thunder Bay while I was attending Lakehead University.

Harry was a special person and loved by many. Although he has been taken away, the love and memories that he has left behind will be cherished by many.

Sincerest regards,

David Denman

Dear Sylvia and family,

I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathies in this time of your great loss. Harry was a great friend and fabulous entertainer. We go back to public school -- so many wonderful memories -- playing for our assemblies in high school-- their first gig at Masonic Temple in Cornwall--playing locally and rurally for weekend teenage dances--graduating to the Willow Grove in Massena and the White House 'down east'--'on the road' travels--school reunions--under the tent at the Kars Fair (I may have a video from there)!!

He was so talented (I'm listening to his CD as I write this) -- now free from pain and in a better place -- "Heaven's choir sounds so much sweeter since . . . ."

Very sincerely,

Ted Brennan

As profound as the feeling of loss must be, he will always be with you you and with many of us.

With fond memories and sincere regards

Hi Rosie and Dan

Although words seem to say so little, I hope they help in some small way to ease the sense of loss. Hold on to your memories of the cherished past, they all add up to a treasure of fond yesterdays that you shared and spent together. The special moments and memories in your life will never change. They will always be there!

Our thoughts are with you, and your family. If there is anything that Renaud and I could do, please let us know.

Dear Sylvia and family. Doug and I are so very sorry to hear about Harry. We have very fond memories of when you lived here. Every time we drive by the old house on Stonechurch, Doug remarks on the times helping Harry with repairs on that place. We had some very fun times with the two of you and Harry will be terribly missed by both of us. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you, Dan, Karen and Kristin. We love you.

To Harry's Children:

As Harry's sister, I will cherish the fun adventures and times we had together growing up.

This raport continued through music, which we both enjoy immensely.

Our brother Doug being much younger, soon caught up at a time when we all found, the mutual joy in horseback riding.

I wish everyone well and I, and family hurt beyond belief.

My prayers are with you.

God Bless
