Harvey B. (Chris) Christensen, age 82, of Mountain Home, passed away after a short battle with brain cancer. He was born September 11, 1933, in Bronxville, New York to Bernhard and June Christensen. After schooling in New York, Chris joined the US Air Force and was stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base. While serving his country, he met and fell in love with Tamzy A. Hudgens of Caldwell. They were married in 1954, a union lasting 63 years in July. Chris and Tamzy had three children, Bruce, Ann and Tammie.
After his military service, Chris began a long and successful career in the automobile business, beginning as a salesman at Burke Hudleson Ford of Nampa and retiring as co-owner of Mountain Home Ford. In addition to a successful business career Chris was actively involved in numerous organizations and clubs. He was a 43 year member of the Elks. He served as President and Director of the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce. While in the Jaycee's, he received the highest honor of U.S. J-C-I-Senator, and as a Lions Member he received the Melvon Jones Award for Humanitarian Service.
He had many hobbies including traveling, gardening, home improvements, and golfing with the Round-Belly Group.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Jack, his grandson Ryan Healy, and great-grandson Corbin Wright. He is survived by his wife Tamzy, son Bruce (Sheila) of Spokane, WA, daughter Ann (Phil Healy) of Stanwood, WA, Tammie (Rick Hill) of Pendleton, OR, and brother Richard Christensen of Florida. In addition, they were blessed with four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held for family and friends at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, followed by a celebration of life at the Mountain Home Elk's Lodge. On Thursday, June 30, 2016, inurnment and military honors will be held at 2:00 PM, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise.
