Harvey J. Hunter, 86, formerly of East Berlin, died Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Colonial Manor in York. He was the husband of Theda J. (Rife) Hunter, who died May 7, 2000.
Harvey was born June 1, 1929 in East Berlin, the son of the late Harry W. and Bessie M. (Shaffer) Hunter.
Harvey was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in East Berlin, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired in 1991 from York Casket after 37 years of service.
He was a member of the East Berlin V.F.W., where he was a past commander, Hebron Lodge #465, New Oxford, the American Legion in Hanover, Harrisburg Consistory, and Liberty Fire Company #1 in East Berlin.
Harvey is survived by a daughter, Barbara A. Stallard of East Berlin; three grandchildren, Christine M. Mullins of Big Stone Gap, Va., Terry Williams of East Berlin and Jamie Stallard of Pa.; three great-grandchildren, Logan Mullins, Cory Mullins and Cadence Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Dave Hunter; and three sisters, Margie Kreiger, Charlotte Hunter and Florence Rohrbaugh.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 306 Harrisburg St, East Berlin, with his pastor, the Rev. George Scott, officiating. Burial will be in East Berlin Union Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Masonic service at 8 p.m.
