Harvey LeMay Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 16, 2009.
Richard was born in Bakersfield, CA, February 3, 1955. He passed away at his home in Upland, CA, November 16, 2009.
He was the second oldest of the 7 children of Lewis & LaFern LeMay. Richard grew up in Culver City, CA with his 3 brothers and 3 sisters, and attended Stoner Avenue Elementary, Marina Del Rey Junior High and Venice High School. He got his first job at the age of 14 and worked many different professions throughout his life, from furniture mover, to painter, to body shop detail manager to forklift driver. In 1983, he married the love of his life, Carol Eason, who he was introduced to by their mutual friend, Nora. They lived in the Culver City/West L.A. area until 1988, when they moved to Ontario, CA, before settling in Upland in 1990, where they bought their home. Richard was always very close to his family and loved to have them over to his home for barbeques and holiday gatherings. He was always very protective of his younger siblings, especially his 3 sisters. Although he and Carol never had children of their own, he had a great love for his many nieces and nephews, and later on, great-nieces and nephews, as well as the children of his friends. Richard was also a person who had a love for animals and greatly enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Lady and Bindy, as well as the 3 who were waiting for their master in Heaven, Lucky, Bear and Max. Some of his favorite things to do were working on home improvement projects and taking care of his yard. He also loved old cars and riding his Harley. He liked to fish, even though he never had much luck with it, but was always willing to try again. His favorite vacations were spent camping with his wife and their friends George & Lani and Eileen & Andy. Their favorite camping spot was up North, in Bodega Bay.
Richard was a person who lived life to the fullest, never taking any day for granted. Although he had many medical problems throughout his life, he never let it keep him down. He loved his wife, his family, his friends, his dogs and he also loved to dance. He was always a hard worker, who put his heart into whatever job he had. At the time of his death, he had been working at Exel/Wella Distribution Center as a forklift driver for the past 8 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Carol; his mother, who he cherished, LaFern (LeMay) Robins; brothers Curtis, Steve & Perry (and wife Dayna) LeMay; Sisters Bonnie (and husband Dennis) Nelson & Claudia Crawford; half-brothers Rick & Alan LeMay; half-sister Mary (and husband David) Hughes; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; father-in-law Henry Eason; sister-in-law Sharon Eason and many great friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis LeMay, sister Debbie LeMay and half-brother Charlie LeMay.
