Services for Hazel McGines Ates, 65, Tyler, are scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Saint Violet Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy P. Cleaver officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Tyler, under direction of Brooks Sterling and Garrett Funeral Directors, Tyler.

Mrs. Ates died June 16, 2008, in Tyler.

She was born Aug. 2, 1942, in Smith County to the late Lee and Lucille Taylor McGines. She was a lifelong resident of Smith County and attended Jackson public schools and Emmett Scott High School. Mrs. Ates was retired from East Texas Medical Center. She was a member of Saint Violet Baptist Church and was in the choir and on the deaconess board.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Tymson Ates, Tyler; son, Daniel Ates, Tyler; daughters, Sonia Lyons, Betty Raibon, Carolyn Dostson and Marsha Swanson, all of Tyler; sisters, Betty Ivory and Fannie Whitmill; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
