LAURINBURG — Hazel Eleanor Wallace Marks, 96, passed away June 29, 2015, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, and the family will receive friends at the church from 10:30-11 a.m. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
She is survived by her daughter Eleanor "Elroy" Snead (Sam) of Laurinburg; her granddaughters, Robin Snead of Laurinburg and Ashley McDaniel (Billy) of Raleigh; her great-grandchildren, Andrew Oswald, Anna, Thomas, Mary Katherine, and Caleb McDaniel; and a special cousin, Marguerite Turner of Dillon, South Carolina.
Born Jan. 5, 1919 in Dillon, she was a daughter of the late Archie W. and Essie Guill Wallace and widow of the late F. LeRoy Marks. For several years she was a secretary and receptionist for Drs. Nesmith and Griffin and later served as a bookkeeper for McNair Farms for 20 years.
She was a multi-talented lady known for her stylish dress and her skills with all types of sewing and needlework. Her home was filled with beautiful needlepoint pictures and chair bottoms as well as many crocheted and knitted afghans. She was also a lover of dolls of which she sewed and embroidered many gowns and clothing.
Memorials are requested for the Marks Scholarship, First Baptist Church, PO Box 883, Laurinburg, NC 28353 or the Humane Society, 1401 West Blvd., Laurinburg, NC 28352.
McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium is serving the family.

May the memories that you shared with Hazel and the comfort from God be of assistance to you in this time of need. 1 peter 5:6,7 were dear words to me when i lost my father in february of this year.
