GREENSBORO — Hazel B. Maynor, 84, of Greensboro, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2009, at the Blumenthal Nursing Center.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Monday, September 28, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Hazel was born in Malvern, Worcester, England, on July 12, 1925. It was in England that she met and married the late Luther V. Maynor of Greensboro, who was stationed there during World War II. She was a woman of extraordinary compassion, kindness and self-giving, and was known by many who did not know her name as "the lady with the beautiful smile."
In addition to her husband, Hazel is preceded in death by a brother, Jack Bullock, also of Malvern, England.
She is survived by her fivechildren, Dr. Barry A. Maynor and wife, Betty. of Greensboro, Geoffrey Maynor and wife, Sharon, of Greensboro, Kimberly M. Maynor of Madison, Stephanie M. McIntyre and husband, Richard, of Morehead City, and Melanie M.
