Osterhout, Hazel, moved on to her next experience with God on Aug. 25, 2003 at Wesley Medical Center, where she was cared for briefly following an accident in her home. Hazel was born in 1918 in Beaver County, OK, the only daughter and eldest of five siblings parented by Wiley and Alice Hendricks. Of those family members, she is survived by her only living brother, Herbert Hendricks of Beaver. Her parents, and brothers, Oren, Lee and Roy predeceased her. Hazel was married to Donald Edgar Osterhout of Winfield, KS, who predeceased her. She is mother to Michael Osterhout of Kansas City, Donnna Carlberg of El Dorado and Larry Osterhout of Wichita. She is grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Hazel graduated from Southwestern College, Winfield, KS in 1940 with a bachelor's degree in education. Throughout her life she gave service to her community as a teacher, clerical worker, customer service assistant, homemaker and parent. She attended University United Methodist Church since 1953. Services will be held on Friday, Aug. 29, 2003 at 11 a.m. at University United Methodist Church, 2220 N. Yale, Wichita and at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003 at the First Methodist Church of Beaver, OK. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity. Hillside Funeral Home East Chapel.

I met your mother when I picked up your (deceased) son Tony from her one weekend when I was babysitting him. That has been a long time ago. He was out two years old at the time, I think.
