Hazel M. Peters

Hazel M. Peters July 3, 1931 January 22, 2018 Hazel M. Peters, 86, of Bellefonte, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born in Jacksonville, on July 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Ralph J. and Velda I. (Burris) Grove. Hazel was a 1948 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. She was Recorder of Deeds for Centre County, retiring after 40 years of service. Hazel is survived by four daughters, Glenda Houser, of Bellefonte, Brenda Johnstonbaugh (Dennis), of Bellefonte, Betty Brubaker (Paul), of Bellefonte, Janet Lowery, of Bellefonte; two sons, James E. Peters (Christine), of Bellefonte, and Barry Peters (Beth), of Lewistown; 16 grandchildren, 27 great grand- children, and six great great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Alma Rider; and one brother, Howard Grove; one brother-in-law, Earl Hoy, all of Bellefonte. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers and one son-in-law. She was a member of Buffalo Run United Methodist Church. She was also a lifetime member of Logan Grange, and PA Farm Bureau. There will be a public viewing on Friday, January 26, 2018, from 12-2 p.m. at Greater Buffalo Run Valley United Methodist Church, 1667 Buffalo Run Valley Road, Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held at the church at 2:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Meyers Cemetery in Bellefonte.
