Hazel Wenberg Obituary

Hazel I. Wenberg, 85, of Hibbing, died Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Golden Crest Nursing Home in Hibbing. She was born Oct. 23, 1921 in Mahnomen, Minn., the daughter of Harry and Inga (Bjerken) Warner. Her family lived in North Hibbing until the town was moved to where it is today. She grew up in Hibbing where she attended elementary, Jr. High, High School and College. In May 1946, she married Charles 'Donald' Wenberg in Hibbing, Minn. Don was in the Army so they were assigned to posts in several states until his retirement. Returning to Hoyt Lakes, Minn., Hazel worked as a secretary at Erie Mining Co. until 1961, when she moved her family back to Hibbing after the death of her husband. She was employed by Cummins Diesel and in 1964, she remarried and moved to Morgan Park in Duluth. She worked at Northern Drug and Duluth Motors until she retired due to health problems. While a resident of Morgan Park, she belonged to Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron. After returning to Hibbing in 1982, she was also a member of Eastern Star. She was also active in teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at First Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Inga Warner; her brothers, Vernon Warner and Lyle Warner; two sisters, Thelma Mattson and Elaine Tammi; and one great-grandchild, Anthony Fairchild. Hazel is survived by her three sons, Charles (Kurlene) Wenberg of Duncan, BC Canada, Calvin 'Corky' Wenberg of Hibbing, and John (Christy) Wenberg of Duluth; a daughter, Susan (Phillip) Theising of Hibbing, Minn.; six grandchildren, Mark Fairchild of Sioux Falls, S.D., Rebecca (Todd) Estabrook, of Florida, Jennifer Temple of Hibbing, Minn., Amanda Wenberg of Duluth, Aaron Wenberg of Duncan, BC Canada, and Kristin (Dennis) Wenberg of Duncan, BC Canada; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Wallace Warner of Hibbing; and many nieces and nephews. VISITATION:10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007 until the 11 a.m. service in the First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Pastor Bruce Dissell will officiate. Interment will be at the Hibbing Park (Maple Hill) Cemetery. Family services provide by Anderson-Daniels, a Bauman Family Funeral Home in Hibbing. Chuck, Kurlene, Aaron and Kristin, my heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolences to you and the Wenberg Families. Mom's are our Family centrepieces. I am glad that we have memories that make life bearable. Gone but never forgotten.

My condolences to the Wenberg family. In the Morgan Park years "Ma Corky" was the only adult that gave me the unconditional love and support normally only afforded to a family member. I share your grief.
