Eunice V. Strubberg

Eunice Viola Strubberg, 89, Villa Ridge, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, in Washington.

Eunice was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Villa Ridge, the daughter of the late Henry Schroeder and wife Sena, nee Loeb.

She received her education in rural Union. On July 21, 1945, Eunice was united in marriage to Fred L. Strubberg at St. Francis Borgia Church, Washington. They made their home for a while in Washington before settling in Villa Ridge.

She worked for many years in shoe factories, having worked at Carmo Shoe, later Wolff Shoe, Brown Shoe Co., and International Shoe Co.

Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, Aug. 18, 1986; two grandsons, Spencer and Terrence Walker; one great- grandson, McKay Cranmer; and seven siblings, Andrew Schroeder, Edna Jurotich, Elda Herbst, Elsie Jacobsmeyer, Wilbert Schroeder, Alfred Schroeder, and Elmer Schroeder.

She is survived by four daughters, Viola Bradley and husband Walter, Diane O'Rourke and husband Jim, all of Union, Connie McLeod and husband Perry and Darlene Grempczynski and husband Allen, all of Villa Ridge; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Victor Schroeder, Washington; special friend, Charles Palm, Wildwood; other relatives and friends.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, Dec. 22, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, Villa Ridge, with Father Jim French officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Memorials to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society are preferred.
