I didn't know Mr. Cafferata but felt I did as his photo hung in Debbie's and my apt in Rancho Cordova CA in the early 1980s. I lost track of Debbie when she moved. I tried finding her many times online, and, remembering her father's name, I searched for him again tonight and found his obituary. I was so sorry to learn of his death, but I'm also grateful if this reconnects me with Debbie. She could contact me at [email protected]. God bless your family.

My condolences to your family. I did not know Mr. Cafferata but I learned about him from my father and attended his day on Sept 12, 1992 in Montville. He was a humble man by all accounts as are most true heroes. I am trying to arrange for all flags to be lowered in his honor in NJ as a small token of my appreciation. God Bless.

Sincerely

Hector
I have only known you for a short while, but I feel we became very good friends. We met at Homer Helters about 6 months ago. I have never met a more down to earth man in my life. It was a pleasure.
To your family, I met your wife once in your car4 and she was not feeling well so it was a short conversation. To your children be proud of your dad and not because of any award he may have won. He was just a good man.
You have my condolences and you and Hector will be in my prayers. God Bless you my friend.

My husband and I had the honor of meeting Hector at the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation Gala in Atlantic City, NJ. When we thanked him for his service to our country, he replied, "I was just doing my job." Hector was a very humble individual and he will be deeply missed.

Hector, our 1954 Boonton High School yearbook was dedicated to you. The picture is of President
Truman putting the Medal of Honor around your
neck. I believe you inspired 5 young Boonton High
students to join the Marine Corps in September of
1954: Pat DePalma- Jack Reigel - Bill Beltran-
Tony Mini and Chuck Sarges.

We know the streets of Heaven
will be guarded by one more Hero.
