This comes too many years late however, in reading all of these comments, I feel compelled to add my own experience of Heidi. We met in the 70's during a formative time in my life when I worked at the farm. As with so many of you, Heidi made me think in ways I hadn't before thanks to those kitchen table discussions :-) I remember that she would ask a question like "Did you close the gate?" answering "I think so" was not acceptable...you had to be able to say, without hesitation that "Yes, I did!".

You were larger than life Heidi and I can never express to you the love i feel for you or the difference you made in my life. The times i spent at the farm are unequaled and you are in my heart forever. I will miss you forever.

In loving memory of Heidi Hannibal ...
I have come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
Don't feel so sad
Nor shed any tears
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little but not forever
And not with yor head held low
Remember the times we once shared
Miss me a little but let me go
For this is a journey we all must take
And each one must go alone
It's all part of the master's plan
A step on the road back home
Miss me, but let me go ...

My dear, what to say, Heidi taught me a lot, she taught me to work hard, how to handle horses, how to jockey them, an experience I will never forget, she will be so missed.

Heidi was a mentor, who deeply and profoundly changed my life. I learned so much from Heidi and, while many years have passed, I have not and will not forget what Heidi so selflessly taught so that I may grow and become a better person. "Don't Repay Kindness, Pass It On" were the words on the fridge magnet Heidi pointed to many times. It is within the spirit of these words that the knowledge Heidi shared is being shared and "passed on" to others. You will always be remembered Heidi.
If there is a heaven, I'm imagining your "4 and 2 legged kids" greeting you with big fuzzy hugs, wet warm kisses and tender loving hearts as they now comfort you and love you so that you may forever rest in peace.
Thank you Heidi.

We only met a few times, but they were memorable all the same. Our kitchen talks were something I will always remember. I am sure you are up there with Leon, talking and arguing. I will miss you a lot.

I met Heidi when I was a teenager. She opened my eyes. She taught me about life and I especially think the animal kingdom was better because Heidi walked on the earth.. There was always stimulating discussion. Thank you Heidi

From the first time I contacted you in the mid 80's, Heidi, regarding foaling out my dear "Bunners", and you said "come on by and we'll sniff noses and see if we like each other", I knew we would be good friends. I miss you so much and can only hope you're with all your 2 legged and 4 legged friends that have gone before you.
All my love,
Nancy

There were times when Heidi was almost impossible to deal with, but they were few.She provided insight into other people as well as to the kingdom of animals. It was impossible to meet Heidi and not come away a much better human being. I miss her already.
God bless her and her beloved memory.
